Just on the Diane Rehm Show: Bush fiddled while Rome burned |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-11-03 11:32 AM by Woodstock
Gail Sheehy (author of Passages) was on talking about her new book Middletown.
The hour was about 9/11 and Sheehy had mentioned earlier in the program that Cheney had to tell Bush AFTER it happened that he had authority to shoot down a commercial plane. When informed of this, Bush said "You bet."
At the end, an indignant Bush fanatic called and said why didn't she like his response?
She said, it wasn't his response, it was that he was so disengaged from the process. First, Cheney had to tell him what his responsibilities were. Then when informed that the plane had hit the towers, he went back to reading to the second graders.
Did anyone else hear this?
