I have only one decision to make, to run for the Presidency of the United States.

7. He was shutting down the Dean VP thing |
|
Judy was badgering him about the Post article. He explained that he had spoken to a number of the candidates about many things, but he was not in the process to decide to run for VP (duh) but that the decision before him was to run for the PRESIDENCY.

Josh Marshall reports that the VP story was likely planted by Dean's people to undercut him.

31. Yep. If it's true that Dean has been trying to marginalize |
|
Clark it will backfire on him. I reserve my judgement on Dean until I find out if Clark is running. If Clark is in, it will show that Dean will do and say anything to win. Some of us already suspect that.

23. Hmm, I took it to mean this: |
|
First, he has to decide if he wants to run for the presidency or not.
IF he decides not to run for presidency, who knows what he'll decide to do. He's left his options option - and I would think that being a VP candidate would be a very real option.

I know, I know, TPM posted it. But do you have something more definitive than that. What he said was mostly supposition. He is not exactly a Dean fan.
Where is it coming from that Dean is sabotaging Clark?

he was talking about interviewing campaign managers in that segment. She asked him if it was true (xxx) had turned down an offer from him to work on his campaign.
You're out of context and not listening very well IMO.

Judy asked him if it were true that he asked the John McCain campaign director to come on board, and that the McCain guy turned him down. Clark said no he didn't turn him down because nothing was offered. He repeated it so that no one could come back and call him on it.

When the media is giving him so much face time? A little suspense is getting him a whole lot of real estate in the news. It's a nice extra boost before he kicks off his campaign.

Although I did enjoy watching him basically laughing at Judy Woodruff the entire time.

I agree that he shouldn't push it too far which is why he has definately said, given his word even, that a decision will be known by the end of next week. Until then, free media push.

6. Punxatawney Wesley will decide about making a decision about deciding soon |
|
Should he see his shadow, he'll decide whether he'll decide about the weather. Springtime may be too late, though...
Yes, America's looking for leadership; that's why he's still weighing his options.

He has to know that he is already behind the major Dem "front runners", in both face time and fund raising.
As far as "deciding to decide", his options are wide open and he probably wants to keep them that way as long as possible.
If he declares, and does not do well (let alone not get the nomination), he won't be in a very good position to accept anything else that may be offered.
Keep in mind this guy is West Point educated and a Rhodes Scholar, unlike the repukes you can be sure he has a 'Plan B & C' as well as his own 'exit strategy'.
He knows just what kind of a target he will become, no matter what path he takes, thus he will be careful to try and sustain only minimal collateral damge.
As a military man he seems to be following the old axiom 'keep your enemy guessing'.
And yes, a Dean/Clark ticket would be VERY attactive, with their respective strengths off-setting the ohters weaknesses. But I doubt that Wes would be willing to be the typical luke warm VP.
Remember, we need to think outside the traditional box if we want the WH back in '04.

his candidacy next week according to those close to him. I think he will be a media favorite, this is good for all candidates wether he is the nominee or not, while he is the "news" anything negative he has to say about * helps all the candidate.
