Mystery shrouds Pentagon's extra funds

By Peter Spiegel in London and Marianne Brun-Rovet in Washington
Published: September 10 2003 18:19 | Last Updated: September 10 2003 18:19

In detailing its request for $87bn (?77bn, £55bn) to fund the "war on terrorism" for the forthcoming year, the White House budget office said this week that a vast majority of those funds - $51bn - would go directly to military operations in Iraq.

It noted that $800m of that spending would go to coalition members who cannot afford to deploy their own troops. An additional $300m would go to new life-saving body armour; and $140m to heavily armoured Humvees to protect its soldiers.
But apart from those few details, the
Bush administration has been tight-lipped about where the huge sums - which come on top of $62bn appropriated for military operations in Iraq and Afghanistan in April - are going. Because Iraq military efforts are being funded outside the normal appropriations process, in so-called "supplemental" or emergency spending bills, the funding does not go through the same rigorous congressional oversight to which normal Pentagon spending is subject annually.

As a result, the spending is difficult to track, leading to concerns among some members of Congress, and experts in Pentagon budgeting, about the Defence Department's accountability.

3. 3.3 Trillion Missing From Pentagon Budget
In 2002 it was reported that 2.3 trillion was missing
In 2003 it was reported ANOTHER 1.3 trillioin was missing

The Pentagon must be forced to submit audited financial statements of ALL its spending.

Just for comparison in 2002 US GDP was $10 Trillion.
Cumulatively, the Pentagon has lost about $12,000 (ten thousand) for every man woman and child in the last few years since Bush has been President.

7. Perversely, Rumsfeld Blames Paperwork
So the bastards are trying to make it even easier for the Pentagon to spend money without
any Congressional oversight.

food, water, air conditioning, and personnel replacements for the troops stationed there?

Naaahh.... there I go, hallucinating again.......

9. if this "missing" $$$ is legit,
then our presidential candidates need to call them on it, if not our legislators. If there's anything people hate, it's waste and fraud in govt.

12. Has DK spoken of this?
First I heard of this was from Cynthia McKinney, probably another reason they wanted her out.

17. Dennis K. Has Spoken Out
Found his name while googling last night about the missing Trillions.

By the way, missing TRILLIONS is NOT some guys making bucks...

It's about COVERT (possibly illegal) activity which we or our elected rep's aren't aware of.

10.  I wonder if they are
building personal bunkers for themselves, family and
friends?

How many bunkers would that be, scattered all over the
country or just one huge bunker?

11. This is the only case where Arnold's solution....
is worthwhile.

He has pledged to solve the california crisis by "auditing everything - open the books."

It won't work for CA since our books are already open and audited. But we NEED this for the Pentagon.

Maybe Arnold for SecDef?

as far as California goes THE BOOKS ARE OPEN. AUDIT AWAY, YOU WON'T FIND ANY EASY CHOICES ARNOLD

it's one thing to pop sound bites out there.
it's quite another to provide sound answers.

13. No mystery at all:
Go outside.
Look up at the sky.
Watch the jets making clouds.
The clouds have been proven to contain barium and aluminum. Biological materials have also been found in them.
Jets are generating artificial clouds all over America and the missions run 24/7.

Gotta be costing up in the billions by now, perhaps even trillions. Where's the money? It's right above your nose.

:nuke:
dbt

And, no, these are not contrails. Contrails dissipate in a few minutes.

15. That is how they will fight Global Warming
Seed the earth with rain clouds and keep us cooler. More fighter jets at 500gal per hour or what ever the hell their consumption is. More oil sold to government so oil people (Bush*, Cheney, etc.) reap great wealth.
