Silly Pins And Bad Titles
Silly Pins and Bad Titles

You know whats sickening these days? Hummers and Suburbans going down the road with fifty flags on them. In these times, it seems to be the fad to be ultra-patriotic and nationalistic. Now don't get me wrong; patriotism and nationalism aren't bad attributes, but a moderation of both of these characteristics wouldn't hurt anyone.

Furthermore, calling someone "un-patriotic" or "un-American" is one of the most hypocritical things these ignorant people can do. Before they call others "traitors" or accuse them of hampering the "war effort," they should look at themselves. Gas-guzzling SUVs fuel (no pun intended) the United States need for foreign oil, which in the past has shown us supporting such regimes as Iraq and Afghanistan.

Another thing: it would help if Americans would get out of their shells of ignorance and see the rest of the world for what it is. While Americans spend $200 billion a year on weapons, forty million Americans are uninsured. Thirty five million live in poverty, and four thousand children leave us per hour due to starvation. Three million people have been killed in a war in Congo that has received little to no press coverage, since Congo doesn't have four trillion dollars worth of oil.

So before you call another person "un-American," look at yourself and see what you're doing to help your country.
