...an evening rally at College Park, Md., didn’t leave the impression that voters had turned on Dean. Another capacity crowd turned out (estimated at 3,000) to hear the former governor speak, the only distraction being a small group of Bush supporters who interrupted the speech twice (see details below).
(snip)
Dean delivered his standard stump speech in College Park, MD. Interestingly, many more minorities were present tonight, a trend that we will continue to monitor in the weeks to come.
The only unusual element was provided by a small group of Bush supporters who chanted “GOP, GOP, GOP,” to which Dean responded, “We will let these people get this out of their system for a minute. A moment of silence for the GOP who will not be around after 2004.”

1. A moment of silence for the GOP |
|
Cute but I hope it does not get connected with the moments of silence for the 9/11 victims.

After watching the debate disrupters irritating Lieberman and others the other night--it is great to see that Dean can handle disrupters in a creative manner.. Clinton was good at that sort of thing as well. It is encouraging...

4. He also made it clear that they were to be allowed to stay. |
|
If it were a Bushco person, they would be roughly escorted out.

They would have been behind a chain link fence ten blocks away in a "Free speech zone".

10. Reminds me of the Florida goons. After the Fox debate disruptors... |
|
we will be seeing more of these thugs I am sure
Disrupt (here at DU and on the ground elsewhere) will be their modus operandi.
More and more.
mark my words.
It is the only strategy they have left.
It goes back to the Nazi beer hall tactics which the BFEE designed I am sure.

This is just a thread where we are not hurting you and not bashing anyone. I am going to say something I have been too polite to say before because there is so much tension on here.
Your candidate would be ashamed of some of his supporters. At our local DEC, two of his supporters have proved to be embarrassments even to themselves. One of his other supporters was so upset he was thinking of calling the campaign.
Shame on you.

12. And another thing, you did not make your candidate look good! |
|
Start a thread about your candidate, and make him look good. When you act in a foolish manner, you hurt Kucinich.

Btw, I do like Kucinich, alot. :hi:
IMHO though, Dean has the charisma, the campaign funding, the buzz and the grassroots support to get folks to switch over to the Democratic Party. He also has positions that are easy to defend and are almost all steps in the right direction.
In the long term, we need to reduce the ability of big money (and big media) to influence elections. Reverse the corporatist trend and we might be able to get Kucinich (or someone like him) elected to the Senate or even the Presidency. From what I've read, Adlai Stevenson was the closest we've gotten to that.
