Bush approval rating drops to lowest since 9/11www.usatoday.com/news/washington/2003-09-11-poll-results_x.htm

WASHINGTON President Bush's public standing, on a downward trend all summer, has slid to its lowest point since the Sept. 11 attacks two years ago, a USA TODAY/CNN/Gallup Poll shows. (Related story: Poll results )
Due in large part to an economy that continues to lose jobs and a situation in Iraq that is messier and more costly than the administration predicted, Bush is taking a hit.
A thin majority, 52%, approve of the overall job he is doing, down from this year's high of 71% in mid-April, when the war in Iraq still had a glow of victory.
It's even further from his 90% job approval rating in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attacks.
Bush gets his lowest marks on the economy; fewer than half approve of his stewardship. The president got further bad news Thursday with a report that claims for unemployment benefits increased last week.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Bush on Thursday commemorated the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks with subdued ceremonies of remembrance as his government warned of possible bigger terror attacks.
"Today our nation remembers. We remember a sad and terrible day," Bush said after attending a morning service at St. John's Church near the White House accompanied by first lady Laura Bush and top aides.
"We remember lives lost. We remember the heroic deeds. We remember the compassion, the decency of our fellow citizens," he said.
Amid the observances, the State Department warned of attacks against U.S. interests abroad by al Qaeda, the militant Islamic group Bush is struggling to crush after it was suspected of carrying out the Sept. 11 attacks.
"We expect al Qaeda will strive for new attacks that will be more devastating than the Sept. 11 attack, possibly involving nonconventional weapons such as chemical or biological agents," the department said, renewing a July 29 warning. An attack within the United States could not be ruled out.--------------------------
