about the Gore Poll Numbers
I hope you all realize that this constant "discussion" in the media about people who are NOT running -- Gore, Hillary specifically -- is intended to:

* diminish the stature of those who are running
* keep people confused about who IS running
* cause dissension and split the base

I'm frankly sick of it from the media, and even sicker of seeing any of it discussed here.

It's over. Gore isn't running. Hillary isn't running. 9 and maybe 10 other terrific people ARE. Why is ANYone here discussing the deadest of dead ends?

Eloriel

1. I feel the same about the media...
it's terribly frustrating and disappointing how bad it has become. The media are just corporations out for a profit. Coca Cola and IBM, GE and GM. Newspapers, TV, radio... there's just corporations in it for the money (not the esteemed fourth estate) and headed by rightwingers who want to privatize and own everything. This is essentially the definition of fascism. Right here in the "homeland." Ever wonder why they selected that term?

2. There is a lack of realistic expectations around here....
They wish they would run, but wishing will not make it so.

In addition, there are a number of trolls stirring this stuff up. The best thing to do is to not to respond to those threads.

Hillary isn't running. Al isn't running. Period.

4. the 9 current candidates
are the only reason the 2004 dem platform will get any media coverage at all. without the 9, the media 'gore-ing' of individual candidates would have become much bloodier by now.
i applaud all 9, and i hope clark makes 10!

5. Amen!
Neither Gore or Hillary is going to run. People have to stop dreaming.

And I think that, for the most part, this is a good group of candidates. Certainly better than the group that ran in '88, and arguably better than the group that ran in '92.

6. Good post, and right on target
This isn't about Dean only, either.

This is about all of our wonderful candidates (I'll include Joe) and the GOP/media attempt to discredit them as serious contenders. The GOP knows that Gore and Hillary aren't running - so they can use these polls to "show" how voters are uncomfortable with the Dem candidates out there.

I know that DraftGore is interested in working for the good of the country right now, but drop the polls. Those things cost a lot of money that can be better spent on any of the nine candidates out there already.

I'd love nothing more to see Gore in this race, but he has already declared that he won't do it. If he got back in, it would look awful and the GOP would jump all over him for it.

I suspect one of the reasons we see the poll numbers so high for Gore is that people know who he is. We know that 2/3rds of the primary voters haven't even started paying attention yet, so of course they will support the person that they know (and supported last time). Let's get this primary season in full swing and you'll see the eventual Dem candidate (one of the declared candidates) busting Bushes ass in the polls.

7. Surprised to see this type of thread from you...
...although some of what you write is correct. I'm sure the 'others' are doing everything they can to 'confuse' the Dem voter...but you should give more credit to those who care about the theft of the 2000 election.

- A stolen election is the worse thing that can happen in a Democracy. Dems were literally cheated out of an election (proven) and the real president remains in exile while an imposter destroys our country.

- I'm amazed that you wouldn't want to continue talking about it...not in the context of Gore running...but to keep the facts about election fraud in the open.

- But most importantly...if they can do it to Gore and GET AWAY WITH IT...what does this say about future elections? If you don't want to discuss Gore...just stay away from those threads. But please don't try to intimidate others into silence on this issue.

8. Oh, baby
I didn't say a THING about the Stolen Election of 2000. Not one single thing. Wasn't even in my thoughts when I wrote my post.

No, I will NEVER get over the Stolen Election of 2000. None of us ever should and no one who's a Dem or on the left should TELL any of us to "get over it."

But all that has nothing to do with the media coverage re polls and , and some of the posts here, just as you yourself point out:

I'm amazed that you wouldn't want to continue talking about it...not in the context of Gore running...but to keep the facts about election fraud in the open

Again: it's just that it's a different subject from the one I addressed.
