Shouldn't we be actively courting Indian candidates?
Indian-Americans are one of the fastest growing ethnic groups in the nation. Not only that, but they are also growing very wealthy, very quickly. In terms of votes and money, are the Democrats at a loss with this group? The only national Indian politician is a Republican congressman from Louisiana.

Here is an interesting website about Indian-American politics:

1. They voted overwhelmingly for Gore and I think Kerry won them too
Gore won them by something like 60-40 (I've also seen 70-30 thrown about). I've not been able to find figures for Kerry although I did read that he won them - I just don't know the margin.

The wealthiest Indian-Americans and many of them in Texas (which has a large Indo-american community) voted Bush. The majority voted Dem though I think.

One problem is going to be the conflict with outsourcing. I am Indian-American and I can see that it is a genuine issue of concern for a lot of americans, but a lot of Indians see anti-outsourcing as thinly-veiled India-bashing (which in some cases it has been). The issue is going to have be finessed well if you want to lock up the Indian-American vote.

Young Indian-Americans btw seem to be overwhelmingly liberal. Parents are more socially conservative though. If you can cultivate young Indian-Americans though at least the future should be good.

2. not if they're like Jindal, we shouldn't
Sorry, the dude is the enemy.

We should be courting candidates who support progressive causes, not candidates who want to be the first non-white admissions into the KKK. Jindal was a Mike Foster protege, which means David Duke protege.

We should support candidates who support us, regardless of color.

The conservation movement is a breeding ground of communists
and other subversives. We intend to clean them out,
even if it means rounding up every birdwatcher in the country.
