Hi DUers... I am planning on running for Freshman Senator at the University of Denver in the next few weeks. I am working on a flyer, and would like to see what you think of it. If you wouldn't mind taking a minute to help a fellow liberal get elected, I would appreciate it. (And ASAP :), since this is GD and threads drop like flies) ******* Let’s make the most out of our time at DU! Elect ME, and as your Freshman Senator, here is what you can expect:
To Go Boxes in the Dining Halls—You paid for the food, you should be able to eat it wherever you like. Reduce the Cost of Intramurals— We work hard, but we also want to play hard. Let’s not have to PAY to PLAY. More extracurricular events ***ONE MORE THING HERE**
I want to hear from you! Email me at tleiteri@du.edu and let me know what I can do for you.
And remember: Things could always be worse… We could be Colorado College!

....just be grateful you don't have to do fundraisers like Vince and I do in our congressional runs.

3. I always liked shadow student administrations. |
|
Better think up a code word though. Put a student on the board of trustees, or increase present number?

Tactical Peak - I sure would like to see more of this at the college level these days. Good thought to the poster in Denver. As a child of the sixties, I wish our only beefs were about take-out boxes in the cafeteria! (Not to minimize what that's like for you - but for some of us, it probably seems rather...uh...light.) But, GOOD LUCK at building the student movement in Denver!

I will figure out if there are any students. I know that we got a new (and first) president who just started this year - Mark Holtzman, straight from Governor Owens office. This decision was made by the chancellor without consulting administration, faculty, OR students.
I think I will remove the to-go container item, and add something about student involvement.
Thanks for your help (and the to-go thing is trivial, but was on my mind - and many other studnents. We pay 3 grand a year and can't even come up to our rooms and EAT!)

8. I didn't mean that! It might be a GREAT issue! |
|
Seriously, these days, it is an issue like that which could win or lose a student election. I wasn't suggesting TacticalPeak's idea supplant the "to-go item" container issue. After all, you are right - it is an absurd policy. One issue doesn't have to cancel the other. Call for the activism and involvement while also calling for containers - nothing wrong with that! It's a legitimate issue. Good luck!!!

A lot. You can always change or add to it as you hear from others what their concerns are, which I suppose is your plan, right?
Good luck!!

I really just want to put out a few ideas I've had over the past week of school. But I want to hear from the students about what they want, and then we'll go from there.
