In addition to the National Guard units who will not be available, police and emergency personel have been decimated by the reserve call-ups everywhere. We are not prepared for a natural disaster or another terrorist attack because those we need in a crisis are tied up being human targets in Iraq.

gang at Homeland Security will come through. Why they might even wave an orange flag for you all-- from the secured environs of Washington, of course.
My best hopes/wishes to you all 'Right' and Gulf Coasties! I do hope she/he fizzles out...

8. Landfall predicted Thursday, anywhere from Charleston to So. VA |
|
My latest input from FEMA contact is that this is one monster storm, the Category Five of all Cataegory Fives. Worst case scenario would be a Delmarva Peninsula landfall, i.e., right up the Chesapeake Bay. You're looking at a six week deployment for emergency agencies/personnel if it lands anywhere on our coastline.
