I like Tucker Carlson
Naturally, our political beliefs differ quite a bit - but he's a reasonable, intelligent guy. (Besides, wearing a bow tie every day requires courage.) I encourage all of you to read this entire interview first, before you flame away. Here are some snippets to get you started:

http://www.salon.com/books/feature/2003/09/13/carlson/

- I'm not a Bush defender, particularly. I defend him when his actions intersect with my beliefs, but I'm not a partisan at all. I'm not interested in parties, in fact I'm opposed to party loyalty in principle. (Yes!) It sort of makes me sick, actually. (Me too, Tucker.) So in that regard, I'm not a reliable defender of the White House. But I am certainly a reliable defender of broadly defined conservative principles.

I'm not particularly anti-drug, and I'm opposed to the death penalty as I am adamantly opposed to abortion. (Who isn't opposed to abortion in and of itself? But I'll always defend its necessity as a safe medical option.)

- I don't like partisanship because it abets lying. And I think you burn out fast when you demagogue. I really do.

- We learned that Bill O'Reilly is a thin-skinned blowhard? Well, I think we knew that. The potentially damaging charge -- that he's a liar -- now that is a big deal...That guy has no sense of humor about himself. At all...Of course I wouldn't want to emulate O'Reilly. I think he's a humorless phony.

1. My problem with Tucker Carlson
isn't his beliefs, but his manner. He reminds me of a spoiled rich brat who thinks everything he says and does is cute.

2. You see, that's what I like about Tucker too.
He consistenly lies. If he occasionaly told the truth, he would be untrustworthy, but as it stands, he's 100% reliable.

3. He lies and lies and lies, but that's the "charm" of him!
You see, if he didn't lie then he wouldn't be Good Ole Tucker C!

11. no..
I was thinking that when I read the thing. Apparently he pissed off the kool-aid drinkers by backing McCain (who is about as liberal as ghengis khan) but since election I haven't heard boo out of him saying anything but good things about Bush or any of his ideas.

6. To paraphrase Will Rogers
(Since I don't have cable and rarely watch TV)

All I know is what I read at DU (and Buzzflash, MWO et al).

That being said I can't stand the guy even though I have no idea what he looks like.

7. What he says and what he does are two very different things
Same as O'Really claiming he's an independent. Watch the behavior, not the words.

8. No Flaming - But 2 Points
1) "If I had told my bosses at CNN about this two years ago, I wouldn't have gotten past the phrase "sexual assault" before I would have been in trouble."

Iow, same as how CLINTON handled things.

2) His glowing version of his dad: from BLUMENTHAL, pp. 471-2, ".... And Drudge confided in Brock that he had been put up to libeling me by several Republican sources. One of them, he said, was Richard Carlson, ambassador to the Seychelles during the first Bush administration and a close associate of Richard Mellon Scaife. ...."

So Daddy Dick ain't THAT pure. A little shading from Tucker who claims to hate lying so much?

But I'm partisan, so I loved what he sez about HUGHES, Shrub, his article on Shrub, and NOVAKula. And no disputing he's SMOOTH, especially when a book is for sale.

9. He certainly
sounds partisan! I have not spent a great deal of time watching him but when I have I have witnessed the same screaming behavior you see from all the RW. The left on this show does as well but Tucker seems to be following the same line they all are, he seems to support Bush* no matter what. So, he is either entertaining us and has sold his soul therefore lying or he is outright lying in this interview.

10. Tucker's philosophy: when you are caught in a web
of your lies,,Deny , deny, deny, then ridicule the source. I'd like to spit in his eye. what an obnoxious creature. when he gets told off, he gets all red in the face. That i like.
