Wing Nut Sends me 10 Page Threatening Letter

Today I got one of those 8x12 manilla envelopes in the mail.

The postmark on it is Westchester, NY. 10610, the date is september 8, 2003.

It has a 10 page hand written letter to me in it, they used printer paper to write it on.

Here is the first line or two:

This is a Threat.................

And you better take it seriously

Because I am not kidding.

You got a REAL BIG FUCKIN MOUTH MISTER.

I'm not a liberal. I'm not a "conservative."

I am pro-authority.

<snip>

Now, I shall reach into your soul and rip it apart.

----

There are 9 more pages of the same thing, on page 10 they write this.

----

You're Fucked. You see Jesus as your creator has the divine right to drop you dead right where you stand.

Right now. Heart Attack, stroke, epileptic fit. God strikes people dead all the time.

And so does Lucifer.........

Your brain, your heart, your blood flow, your organs, every part of you is kept alive by powers that control you.

Jesus has had it with your fuckin mouth. And Lucifer is right next to you right now.

Any moment steve.

ANY MOMENT.

Peoria Heights, ILL.

zip code 61616

----

Hold on, ROTFLMFAO, this is the funniest thing I have ever seen in my life. It is even funnier than the letter from
O'Reilly's attorney. There are 10 pages of this insanity, he says I am controlled by Lucifer. Guess what, he is
right, I worship Lucifer, he is my hero.

If the person who wrote this letter reads this posting, here is what you should do. Come to my house one day,
and we will go have a drink.

I'll be waiting. Lucifer and I both want to go have a drink with you.

Steve

1. TEN pages? Handwritten?
I'd be taking that one to the police and asking for protection. Maybe you ought to contact the FBI as well.

This guy sounds dangerously unbalanced.

Someone who actually takes the time to hand write a 10 page letter full of incoherent threats has some serious problems. I would take it very seriously.

8. You Cant be Serious !

It's probably some right-wing nazi loser living in his parents basement.

The person who wrote it does have a serious mental problem, but they are most likely
all talk. I will save the letter just in case, but I do not take it serious. I get e-mails like
this all the time, and I have for over 2 years. This is what right-wing bible thumpers do.

Imagine some of the shit they send liberals in the media, I think it's funny. It just shows
me I am getting to these wing nuts.

15. just because he's crazy doesn't mean he can't do something terrible
Seriously, this is terroristic threat and it should be brought the attention of law enforcement pronto. This nutjob might not end up hurting you in particular, but he's certainly deranged and certainly contemplating violence and I'd say the odds are pretty high that sooner or later he'll end up acting on his impulses and somebody somewhere could have their life horribly upended by this guy.

He needs serious help and he needs to be put in a situation where he can't hurt anybody. The sooner you get him on law enforcement's radar, the sooner that will happen. As someone who is entering the legal profession and as someone who has survived an unprovoked violent attack, I advise you in the strongest possible terms to get this reported before something terrible happens to you or someone else (if you want to gamble with your own safety, that's one thing - but I'll bet the farm that you're not the only person he's threatened / contemplated hurting and you owe to those people to help remove them from danger)

Be safe and do the right thing.

Written by one person ?

Stewert: yes

My address is on the donation page of my website.

The guy is in New York, not Illinois. It was mailed from New York.

I guarantee you he is all talk, if he was going to do something he would not
send me a letter, he would do it.

Hell I might try to get it scanned and put it on the internet, it's funny.

Whether the person has signed it or not, once the reader recieves the letter it becomes their property. Only a prior agreement not to reveal/distribute would change that.

21. lots of violent psychos are "all talk" until someone ends dead or wounded
Unfortunately, we don't get to find out which nutjobs are just talking smack and which ones really are capable of murder until someone ends up dead. Lots of psych-job killers go throught a period of "talking themselves up" to do something horrible before they go out and do it. This guy might have a hard time getting to you, but there's probably a lot of people on his deranged 'hit list' in NY that he could attack pretty easily.

Please, please, please report this. What this guy has done is a crime and he needs to be dealt with before he takes the next step and some innocent person's life is ended or shattered.

probably won't do much good, it's probably good to have it on record.

As someone who has been threatened by Nazis (they got my phone number), I would not take it too lightly. These folks are pretty much deranged by definition and some can go to great lengths in their harrassment such as posting your address at hate group websites.

A bit late by now, but a PO box might be a better idea to post at your website.

I am not a youngin' talking tough. I spent years dealing with the worst that society has to offer and right now, I still sleep with a loaded 12-gauge next to my bed, a snarling attack dog and a very bad attitude because I STILL have people who mean me harm. If one of those gentle people, either the ones who currently might mean me harm or any new ones come calling, the identity of the person in the ER might not be nearly as foregone a conclusion as you suggest.

35. about having your address published on the internet
Even if you didn't have your address published on your web site, if you have a registered domain, your name and address and other contact information may be viewable by the public.

Here is a site to do a search for most types of domain names:
http://www.whois.sc/

I know this because I used to register/transfer domains at my job. You may be able to hide some of the information in your domain name record by contacting the company/organization listed in the "ICANN Registrar" field in the search results from www.whois.sc

I've had an unlisted address for years, but it still took my over a year to connect the damn dots and realize that my address was out there for any wingnut to see. I changed it to my work address and munged my name as much as possible.

Does the envelop contains a number of individual postage stamps, or does it have one from the post office for the exact amount of postage after being weighed?

If he mailed this at the post office after being weighed then he should appear on one of the security camers at the post office.

I think this guy qualifies for a one-way trip to Gitmo.

Whether he acts on his threat is not the point.

Call the police or go to the police station to file a complaint.

41. Get yourself some fine dark powder (not gunpowder) and clear
wide tape.

Dust the sheets and the envelope.

Shake off the dust.

Cover any prints with the tape.

Bring along a lawyer when you visit the authorities with this evidence.

Remind them about threats via post and remind them of the Patriot Act, which should label this person as a terrorist. Do this in plain sight of the lawyer. Videotape it, if possible.

File a complaint.

May not do much, but it will have to go into the records.

Oh, and make copies (got a good scanner?) of the threatening letter, and keep copies in a secure place, along with a copy in the lawyer's office.

Anyone getting this kind of mail in oversize envelopes should not open the mail at home. It could have kiddy porn in it as an attempt to snare you into trouble.

That happened to one of our best liberal columnists. He immediately went to the postal inspector with it. And then he simply refused any oversize envelope from unknown people. Just took them all down to the postal inspector without opening.

51. This is why I oppose gun control
Hopefully you will contact local and federal law enforcement, but if they kick the can on this because of your politics you have the natural right to defend yourself from right wing, Confederate flag waving yahoos.

52. The author of the letter may not pursue you...
but the fact that he took the time to handwrite 10 pages and made a special effort to go to the post office to get it in the mail is indication enough he is imbalanced. Perhaps you aren't concerned for your own safety. Consider, though, he may act against someone closer to home. Sic the feebies on his happy ass, you may protect someone else's well-being by doing so.

Moreover, it's about time we put a stop to wingnuts flagrantly tossing around threats without fear of retribution. There are, for the moment at least, still laws in this country which we are ALL supposed to abide by. This person has violated several of them. Let him experience first-hand the joys of authority.

61. Listen Up Folks..........

I appreciate the concern, and I will call the police and ask them what I should do. If they
want me to file a formal complaint I will. I doubt I will call asskkkroft, he would probably
arrest me, lol.

P.S. If this moron ever comes to my house, I have a nice loaded gun waiting for him. I
am sort of a gun nut, I have been target shooting for years, and I never miss.
Not to mention our house is at the end of a dead end cul-de-sac, my brother lives two houses
away, my aunt and her husband live next door, and our other neighbor is a good
friend who watches our house, my brothers house, and the neighborhood. He is a military
veteran with lots of guns, the other day the cops were looking for someone who left a car on our
street, and my neighbor searched the neighborhood looking for him, he was walking around the
streets with his gun.

File a complaint. What did you do to get these people to come after you like that?

66. Darn straight you need to call the police
And you also need to put those papers and the envelope into a plastic bag and quit messing up the fingerprints, sweatmarks and possible hair folicles that might be needed to be used as evidence to prove the identity of this fruitcake.

68. I am happy to hear that you feel safe but please take the time and make
the effort to shut this person down. Someone you might not even know could be the next target and could have harm done to him/her. This is a very sick person.

69. Stewart! DON'Tjust call the police!
TAKE THE FRIGGIN' PACKAGE TO THE POSTAL INSPECTOR!!!!

(Sorry for shouting; I forgot myself a bit.)

This is not something to take lightly. What the people said above about the guy taking the time to write 10 pages is true! Whether he's unbalanced or not, he has violated federal law! Don't try to solve this yourself.

The police are local, not federal. They likely will minimize the seriousness. Take it instead to the Postal Inspector or to the FBI.

60. I have had death threats mailed to my workplace
Call the police. Document the threat. This is serious stuff. No one has the right to terrorize you. Let the authorities determine if this is serious or not. Who knows? They are still looking for an anthrax killer who handwrites letters to liberals. You might be the break in an important case. And even if you aren't, you have a right to be protected.

Good Luck.

63. Sounds like it was FROM O'Reilly.
I agree that the probability of you being in danger from this kreeper is low. However, I think it likely that this person's mental stability will deteriorate from its already extremely tenuous condition. If that happens, he may become convinced that someone else's soul needs to be ripped apart and take action. For that reason alone I think you should report this to the police.

72. If this nutjob wrote you a 10-page threat letter...
...he probably has an illiterate relative driving your way right now with a hunting rifle.

This letter is legally actionable. Furthermore, in addition to being a crime, it is evidence of that crime. Treat it as such, and bring it quickly to your postal inspector.

Danger, Will Robinson! Danger!
