Something to keep your eye on re: Bush's poll numbers
Edited on Sat Sep-13-03 08:44 PM by diplomats
Instead of following his approval rating, which can fluctuate, I've decided to start paying more attention to his disapproval rating. I remember reading somewhere that disapproval numbers are actually more important. And one thing that's constant (except for the Fox poll, which always seriously underestimates his disapproval rating) is that Bush's disapproval is now at at least 40 percent, even in the Wash. Post polls. That's the highest it's ever been, because prior to 9/11, even though his approval was just above 50 percent, his disapproval was still in the 30s because many voters were still undecided.

Check out the disapproval numbers at http://www.pollingreport.com

1. May want to edit (disapproval used twice in first sentence)

2. it just shows a very divided nation that's starting to tilt back to us
people are waking up, his approval rating is irrelevent, but just as long as the dissaproval remains at 40 or above, we have a chance.

3. Good idea
Here's what I watch this far out from an election:

The Right track/Wrong track spread.

It's the same hypothesis as yours, I think. How many folks are DISSATISFIED and willing to say so?

5. Yes
I'm not sure anyone's gotten reelected when the wrong-track number exceeds the right-track number.

6. Re-elect numbers, for me.
But right track/wrong track is just as potent. Pretty much measuring the same thing.
