I feel like I shouldn't be happy about Shrub, and Jeb, and the rest of the Republicans melting down in the opinion polls concerning Terry. I feel like I should put this growing sense of perverse glee aside and remember that this is all about Terri and her wishes.
But I can't. I'm grinning from ear to ear as I continue to watch this rapidly derailing GOP sideshow as it prepares to fly off the cliff and smash itself on the jagged rocks below. They misjudged the public's reaction this as badly as they misjudged the Iraqi's reaction to being invaded.
Of course, you know what this means ...
... that's right kiddies. Get ready for another TERROR WARNING.

2. I feel guilty as all hell, but I totally agree. |

I think this is waking a LOT of moderates up as to how extremist these people are. I just hope they remember it in November 2006.

I am heartbroken that this family is enduring such an ordeal and under intense public scrutiny, but will be delighted if the extremism startles some people.

4. It amazes me that they are still pushing this . . . |

"culture of death crap." The more they try to paint the Dems as evil Dr. Deathians, the more idiotic they are going to appear. Mr. Joe American watched CSPAN and HEARD the great arguments put forth by the Dems about separation of powers.
Also, old people are pissed that * wants to mess with their social security. Now he wants to make decision for them regarding their end of life issues.
I wish CNN would list the results of their poll by age.
Bush is pissing of the elderly--I just know it.

7. Sadly I don't think Mr. Joe American |

has ever watched C-SPAN in his life, but you are right about their position being out of step with even most Republicans. Of course the whole exercise is aimed squarely at the right to lifers, gets them fired up, gets the money rolling in, and as a bonus, it keeps Iraq off the news entirely. Personally I think the ramifications of this action, and really this whole mindset, is an assault on the rule of law and extremely serious and dangerous, but unfortunately as a political move I doubt they lose more politically with the mainstream than they gain with the crazies in the long run.

8. True, but even FOX was covering . . . |

the debate on the floor live for the first 20 minutes or so. I imagine CSPAN had more than an average audience on this one.

5. I am surprised and encouraged by the poll numbers. |

What is it about this mess that makes it so different from the rest?
...And can we bottle it without victimizing more families?
