Action from Within the Dean Movement
I have a proposal for Dean Supporters. We need to write his campaign and encourage him to have a tax cut to deflect the GOP "tax increase" mantra. Tell Dean For America they need to have a tax cut that is greater than W's in one area, after they take us back to the Clinton brackets. If it is a child tax credit increase, for example, it wouldn't cost much. It would however, still allow for his Health plan, reduction in the deficit, and take away a killer attack from the GOP. Join me in contacting DFA here:

http://www.deanforamerica.com/site/Survey?ACTION_REQUIRED=URI_ACTION_USER_REQUESTS&SURVEY_ID=2842

They may already have this in mind but if not they need to.

2. Only 35% of the population would benefit from a child tax increase
That's the precentage, per 2000 census, of adults with children under 18. So a child tax increase would not help the economy much.

Dean's mantra is Balanced Budgets and most Americans would rather have Bush's tax cuts repealed and save Social Security, Medicare, public education, etc. than keep those tax cuts, which mainly benefited the top 1% income brackets.

Anyway by repealing Bush's tax cuts and increaseing revenues to states and localities to provide public services, would lead to a decrease or stabilization of state and local taxes, which are increasing thanks to Bush's federal tax cuts.

The purpose of Bush's tax cuts is to destroy the New Deal (FDR) and Great Society (Lyndon Johnson) social programs by starving them of funds.

5. That is another great area
He could offer a payroll tax cut as well. Write DFA and tell them.

Those of you that say the public will want an increase in their taxes, have an unrealisitc appraisal of Americans. 40% or so went to the top 1%. We all want that gone, the public would care if it went. However, the small amount of cuts that went to the middle class will not be ripped away concentually. That is a losing issue and one that would likely cost us the election.

14. Vague non-reply
Look, you know the GOP will say it over and over. TAX INCREASE! Bush's brackets are established. They will repeat this over and over and the public will be swayed by it.

6. Dean Does Have a Tax Cut Already
State and local taxes. Under President Bush, they've soared. And these are the most regressive taxes, quite often. (Sales taxes, for example.) Dean will get them cut.

Dean also makes (and should continue to make) the larger point: lower taxes are fine, but having a well-paying job to pay *any* taxes matters far more.

15. Stop with the child tax credits already!!!
My neighbor has 3 kids. He got $1200 back from the feds. I have no kids, I got nothing.
Because of state shortfalls, property taxes are going up. About half of my property taxes go to schools.

So he's got three kids in school, and essentially gets a federal rebate for the property tax increase. I have NO kids in school, and I have to pay MORE.

Enough already! Nick somebody else this time.
