Just returned from Truman day dinner.Harold Ford Jr stated in his speech that we would know after Wed. if we would have another candidate in the race.Wesley Clark was present and keynote speaker at this event,alon with Al Sharpton.They both were great.

Notice he does not take many undecided and noone but Lieberman drops by more than 2 points compared to Lieberman's 10 point drop accounting for Clark's 8 point rise...

Uh, that would be a "No." He's pretty progressive. THe generals we've had for president have been ok. Ike didn't wreck the country. MBA Bush sure is, though.

I just worry about him holding it together more than anything else. In my mind I keep seeing that clip of him on the phone outside of CNN looking like a deer caught in the headlights. I'd prefer to see him as Dean's VP if he has to be there looking pretty in that uniform.

I've seen most of Clark's TV appearances and he does really well. He had Sean Hannity's knickers in a twist and that was sweet indeed.

I never understood the DU adoration of her during that period, and currently she "stands shoulder to shoulder" with the pResident on at least one issue and hasn't done as much progressive work in her new position as DU insisted she would.

And, Ford made a good point that Gephardt/Pelosi being old school, which I agreed with.

I think his attitude could deal with some minor adjustments, but he goes on FOX because he's got some issues with trying to appeal to all sorts (he is after all from TN)... he's young and sometimes it shows, but I don't think he's as snotty or immature as you imply.

IMO, Ford's behavior during the Pelosi debacle was "pouty". He was visibly peeved and acted ungraciously.

Shapton opened up with an officer and a gentleman theme.Clark followed up stating he was an officer and then took his jacket off and said he might not be much of a gentleman tonight and then he ripped into Bushes record.And he did it in a way not disrespectful to Bush,but decisive.

And as for the post that referred to Clark as Bush-lite, that's just uninformed. Just because he's a General doesn't make him a right-winger. His views are quite progressive, at least what I've seen.

I have been concerned about Clark's ability to appeal to many black voters. But with Sharpton introducing him, Rangel urging him to run and Clinton standing ready to campaign for him, he might have a shot with the black electorate. I hope the General sits down, thinks this through, and comes up with a heartfelt strategy for wooing and serving black voters.

I'm sure he can speak to that, I think he already has. And the military is integrated to a large degree, I think he can come from a pretty good position with black (and other minority) voters. He also filed an amicus brief on the UMich affirmative action case.

He'll have no problem with this black voter (though currently I'm still committed to Edwards).
