I want to say this to Americans! |
|
I've been posting on this forum for a while now and I just want to say something that is important to me....I'm not American...I'm Canadian and have posted many opinions about my disdain for your president....I think he is an abomination....I know the people who belong to DU are anti-Bush too, but I would understand if you resented a foreigner (which I am) saying negative things about your leader! This is very understandable. The fact that you open your arms and hearts to the world and accept our criticism is a lovely thing...That is all I wanted to say.....except to pray with you all that the election in 2004 will elect a Democratic President.

And I certainly can appreciate the irony of der fearful leader having a drunk driving conviction keeping him out of Canada. You are smart people for guaranteeing that you don't have to have him contaminating your Canadian soil.
Now we just have to boot him out next year.

|
The reason he hasn't come to Canada for his first out of country visit as president (which has been the custom of all previous presidents)is because he's mad at our Prime Minister for not joining the attack on Iraq.

and a cheese blintz or something? Forgot the incident from the campaign trail, which I am trying to forget...must forget...must suppress. Hopefully, we can forget that idiot after 2004, except for some laughs now and again.

He is mad at our Prime Minister for not joining in the "coalition of whatever."...I don't know where the drunk driving story came from, but it's not true....

No problem on that. Don't expect any splashback from me if you knock the chimp. He doesn't represent what the United States stands for.

Here you go token, er I mean glarius. Have some fun, let's blow off some steam and belittle a nitwit. Just please refrain from saying "aboot", it makes me giggle uncontrollably and no one wants that.
Seriously though, most liberals really, and I mean really take the constitution to heart. We can take foreigners, semi foreigners even, bashing our politicians and policies without going psycho nationalistic. In other words, bash to your hearts content. And if you piss off a freeper, you get a thumbs up for me.

12. I agree.....President Clinton and P.M Chretien are good friends and plaly |
|
golf together when they can....When Clinton was president he came to Ottawa and spoke before our parliament...It was a nice occasion and both he and Chretien showed their humour and humanity. He's very much admired in Canada and I know once Bush is gone things will revert back to what they were!

My perspective is that we are ALL humans, and our first duty is to be a compassionate member of the human race. So I'm American and you're not. I don't care if you don't.
Unfortunately, when an evil member of our race achieves the ultimate position of power in the United States, he has far greater power to wreak havoc upon the world than does say, any Indonesian. That is what makes Bush so damned dangerous, he commands the greatest military machine in the history of the known universe.
I can't speak for everyone but I know I speak for many when I say......we're sorry. We are doing everything we can think of to stop this fool but unfortunately it looks like he's got until January 2005 at least and I think we have to acknowlege that they will try every dirty trick in the book to extend that even farther.
Until then, please bash away. The more unpopular this simpering simpleton becomes worldwide the easier our jobs will be. I hope we are up to it. I fear the Tasks we will have to accomplish will be heftier than many of us can currently imagine.

26. Here's my take on Canadians slamming Bush |
|
Edited on Sun Sep-14-03 06:23 AM by diamondsoul
You have every right in the world to do it. Anyone with a conscience has reason to bash Bush. Canadians probably more than other countries purely because your being adjacent to the US means he's endangered Canada with his unilateralism and thuggery. Let's face it, if something were to happen in Niagra Falls area, Canadians would be harmed, the St Lawrence, any number of places that are strategic to our international trading etc.
Bash away my neighbor, bash away. The rat-bastard deserves it from everyone across the globe.
