Faux News...Kerry trashing Dean like Repugs did Al Gore....Lying!
I don't watch Faux news....I was surfing for Hurricane Coverage......and came across this Repug RW trash of Kerry and Dean! total distortion........Faux people were trying to PAINT Kerry as "saying" Dean can't be trusted "because he goes back on postions."

Kerry wanted a "one on one" debate. Faux then spun it as an "Argument of Dean against Kerry."

Dean said that Kerry and I should face this "one on one" instead of HIM going behind my back." Kerry then coverted that to we should have a "One on One Debate." And, Faux SPUN it as Dean WAFFLING and having problems.

When, in fact, both candidates are not involved with "trashing each other." Faux distorts...and you Decide.

A Note: I never watch Faux News! It was Hurricane Coverage Surfing.....that led me to scan the "Dark Side."

FAUX was WRONG about KERRY AND DEAN! LIES.......LIES.........No point in watching them......and I haven't .....but just remember those who watch FAUX that those of us who don't watch Faux might have a better "Take" on what Faux is about.....when it comes to lies.......and painting Dean/Kerry as Al Gore with the same old "lying" whatever..... WHO NEEDS THIS? :puke: :puke:

Garbage!!! Mind F**ks! Faux News!

1. Journalism has been replaced with jingoism
And the media doesn't care how much it lies, or even about being exposed for its lies.

3. Non-stop propaganda 24/7
I was flipping through today and hit Faux for TWO SECONDS - long enough to hear Faux hairpiece John Gibson utter something about "all these shenanigans in CA." I assume Gibson never bothered calling Issa's bribery money "shenanigans." Repigs paying for a phony "election" is democracy - the courts ruling on a motion brought by the non-repigs to delay the fake election is shenanigans.

Yep, two secs worth of Faux and I STILL caught the propaganda. God knows what you'd hear in an hour.

IT CAN'T BE AVOIDED!

4. Heheh...KoKo...
your subject line sounded like a Kerry-Dean brawl.

Of course FOX would lie about it. That's what they do.

5. Media Awareness
In a country that still (probably correctly) mandates that high school eleventh graders learn american history, it seems completely irresponsible to me that there is no push for "media awareness" training in our curriculums (college too often included). By "media awareness" I mean giving kids the right tools to "read the media" -- to recognize bias in sources, methods, etc. I spent alot of time in high school reading the classics and framing the events and influences of the day around an author's view. But not today.

In 2003, we get our information from a screen on a box, and occassionally a newspaper/journal. But we dont teach our kids to question the motivation behind the programming -- ie the need to sell advertising, the political sub-currents of channel, and just the basic understanding of what is editorializing and what is "reporting." I think It's a shame we dont think to make our kids better consumers of this stuff.

Comments?

6. I had a course like that as a junior in high school
I can still remember it vividly and its been decades. It was six weeks of my english class that year.

Went through all the propagand techniques....repetition, etc.

It was extremely good. I'm sure its now prohibited, because it makes the junta's job much easier to have unquestioning nationalistic bozos as voters

8. Jacobin....you remember it..but did it change how you deal with life?
That's the question. Would you be different today if you'd never had that class?

What did you retain....and did it help you deal with life better.

I'm not a "math person." Hated Algebra......didn't think I would ever use it.....and I never did.....

Doesn't mean I shouldn't have been browbeaten into learning it......and that I don't remember it....but that I've never used it......

But, I know that many have used it in everyday life. They can look at situations and do calculations that I can't because of Algebra.......but I often use my "intuition" to replace math and algebra. I calculate an unknown X=Y+Y.....or whatever....and come to a conclusion.......but I can't do the numbers.......but can get the right answer..........Who knows????

7. We try to do it with our kids...but few kids listen to what we try to say.
They like the "whoose noises.....and the noise noises....and the bright graphics and the yelling cacophany " of today's media. (OMG! I just realized I sound like Dr. Suess!) The "whiz bang, cacophany....."

Oh well whatever.....our kids don't want to hear that.....they think we are "out of touch" about the Noise, Noise, Noise......

I don't know what to do about it.......We just have to hope that some......a few.......of the kids now......will GET IT! Like we here did..... From sad experience....I agree that this should be part of School Curriculums....like teaching kids how to manage money and not be taken in by scams.......but if most of their parents are like that.....it's whistling in the wind....

Doesn't mean we shouldn't try it....but it also says that if we try it.....the naysayers will resist....

I wish I could be more hopeful about this. As a parent......I don't know......What I would wish and what kids really absorb.....is two different things..........:-(

10. Well this is to be expected...
From a network that gives most of those interviews to Newt Gingrich that I was ranting about yesterday.
