6. this is not the whole story - the other side
this story has received some mileage, and the left is pushing it. The other side of the story as I heard it explained is as follows: These soldiers receive daily pay and allowance which involves a meal allowance. Then, when they are in the hospital, they receive their food for "free" and they also continue to receive their pay and meal allowances. So, in an effort to keep from double paying them (meal allowance and free meals) they are billed for their meals upon check out. Many on the left leave out this part of the story and just say "they make the soldiers pay for their own meals while injured and in the hospital."

From a public relations point of view, it seems to me that if the government does not want to "pay someone twice", they ought to have just deducted the meal allowance money from their paychecks while they are in the hospital rather than billing them and making them come out of pocket when they are injured in battle and checking out of a hospital.

I can't verify any of it, but that's the explanation I heard.

5. Cheney --- "I don't know, ..... I don't know, ... I don't know, ..."
His attack on Cheney with the clips from Russert's Meet The Press interview on Sunday was classic.

Russert: (asks question)

Cheney: I don't know.

Cheney: I don't know.

7. Here's the article on wounded soldiers getting billed for meals.
http://portland.indymedia.org/en/2003/09/271696.shtml

Apparently it has something to do with whether they are getting BAS (their allowance). Administrative problems.

9. Malloy's impersonation of Shrubbie is the BEST
Edited on Mon Sep-15-03 09:53 PM by Enraged_Ape
Better than Will Ferrell or that dude on Jay Leno. It is nigh indistinguishable from the real thing. At times I honestly can't tell when it's Bush speaking and when it's Malloy's impersonation.

11. When is he not?
I like him too, but seriously, when is he not screaming??? It's the main reason he's not on mainstream radio. He has the talent but he just screams too much. Could also use a co-host (or himself) who lightens things up with humor every once and a while.

BUT OVERALL, I like him because I agree with him. I'm just speaking in terms of the ability to be successful on a large scale.

12. I never noticed he screams
He says himself that he's a nutty Irish/Italian (like me!) so you have to expect him to get a little passionate about things. That's what I like about him.

I think his show is super entertaining. He doesn't need a cohost, IMHO. Just my two cents. I listened to him every day while he was on days, nights aren't as easy. I wish he was back on days.

13. Screaming is not allowed on "mainstream" talk radio?
Malloy is so great a voice because he IS outraged by the bloody crimes of this bunch of thieves. And he speaks with both clarity AND indignation about what is being done to our nation and the world. He can raise his voice and denounce venality with the best of them, but he tells the truth.

14. I LOVE it when he says
"Have I told you how much I detest these people?" Someone else saying it would be too much, but he pulls it off perfectly.
