4. That's What Pukes Were Saying In 2000
and they got their wish, remember? 5-4 put an end to it!

What happened today is a good thing.

3. The Republicans will rue the day they cited...
...the 14 Admendment equal protection clause in the Florida give away. I wonder if we will ever have an uncontested election. Will our democratic tradition be overshadowed by court oversite?

5. It is getting annoying
I want the elections decided on the ballots, not the courts.

I fear this may become a trend. The Supreme court will now decide close or controversial elections all the time.

6. 14th Amendment was passed to do three things
1. Make former slaves (freedmen) citizens of the states in which they reside.

2. Keep many Confederate leaders from holding US offices.

3. Repudiate the Confederate government debt.

Today it is stretched to do everything from legalizing abortions to deciding elections. It's more than ridiculous.

7. This is a no win for the right wing Supreme Court
They said one thing when it helped Bush, so they either agree with themselves and push the election back or they have to admit that they were just trying to help Bush in 2000.

What will they do to try to save themselves? Flee the country, maybe? :)

10. if nothing else, it makes for great political theater
it shows just how ridiculous the supreme court's election 2000 decision was. in the bigger picture, it was definitely the right thing to do.

whether it'll be favorable to Davis, that's a separate question.
