1. Oh, my!
Good thing we're only going to vacation in CA for two weeks later this month or we might go broke. Gasoline here jumped from $2.09 to $2.19 yesterday, by the way.

here in Oceanside, CA. We (CA) always have to lead the way, don't we? :-)

14. It is, and it isn't
It certainly is beyond the norm, but this station and a couple of others seem to lead the way as far as pricing goes.

But now I am thinking that $5 / gal is not out of the question.

11. You guys in California need to revolt, NOW!
There is absolutely no reason gas should be that much higher just because it is California.
The citizens of California need to wage war on the oil companies. Everyone go with out gas for one or two days, something.
These corporate thugs are having a field day stealing from the little guy.

15. It's got more to do with state taxes.
Taxes on gasoline are higher in California, so gas prices are higher. It's not gouging on the part of the oil companies.

16. They got the jump on many of us.
Californians statistically have the longest commutes.

It would take a lot of time, maybe a couple years, for significant numbers of Californians to shorten their commute distances.

Doing so would simultaneously involve the shaky employment outlook and the rapid boom in housing prices.

In the short term, it's sad; Big Oil can get away with highway robbery and make as much as they can as quick as they can.

13. that's only 2.33 Euros or so! And we in Austria-on-the Pacific pay top
prices and have middle gas taxes and fees. The Gropenfuehrer will probably remove the MTBE tax, poison our water, and gas will go UP after that thanks to his Texan and Enron buddies.

26. Just walked down to take a picture
The station had already changed it's price to $2.89. But it was $3.03 this morning, so it appears that website is only accurate and current to a certain extent.

38. They probably found out everyone else was lower
The website is only as good as what people post to it. But you can use it to get the general range that stations in your area should be charging. So when you see a price you know if there are stations within a few miles that are significantly less.

Not perfect but if it keeps you from spending 3.03 when you don't have to. Then maybe it's worth the effort.

25. Prices actually went DOWN in San Jose today

Yesterday at this station the prices were $2.69 / $2.79 / $2.89.

So regular dropped 10 cents, unleaded 7 cents, and supreme 7 cents.

The day before THAT all three went up six cents.

Low gas taxes here & self-service is illegal - they have to pump your gas for you!!! One of the few bright spots of NJ!!!!

Why if it continues, SUV's will be too expensive to drive, and and and we'll all end up in tiny little EUROPEAN cars, and and and we'll have to CONSERVE energy and and and, we'll start speaking FRENCH and and and the terrorists won't let us have enough GAS and and and i think it may be the END OF THE WORLD AS WE KNOW IT!!!!

32. $2.85 gallon in northern California yesterday
Unleaded regular too. Prices over $3.00 for the premium unleaded. I'm sure if I'd looked harder I could have found close to $3.00 a gallon regular unleaded but I didn't want to waste fuel driving around. The local town resembled a ghost town yesterday as no one was around shopping or driving.

It is gonna catch up with these pigs one way or the other. People don't drive, they don't shop, they don't spend ... then what?

33. It's a cluster gouge. Record profits for
refiners. I am sure the wholesalers and retailers are in on it as well. How far out is $58 a barrel crude from being refined? I don't think a retailer's price has much to do with the laid in cost of gas anymore. BP refinery blows up...raise those prices..Crude hits all time high...raise those prices. It's all bullshit. Off of the oil nipple the sooner the better. I fear the crushing weight of oil companies more than anything. Goddamn Robber Barons.
