24. I agree - to a point
The fact that it came out early isn't surprising, given the wiles and ways of a press eager to be "first."

We will see if Clark himself gives any interviews on this today.

I like Edwards alot, but the fact that the news that Clark will announce is sucking the air out his own announcement is very telling of Clark's strength.

I wish Edwards hadn't said he wasn't standing for the senate seat.

Edited on Tue Sep-16-03 10:38 AM by WhoCountsTheVotes
Kucinich maybe a long shot, but Clark needs some economic progressive credentials to win the primary and get out the vote in the general election.

Kerry should stay in the Senate, we need him there, he's a great Senator. Too bad about Edwards ruling it out, unless he knows he'll be picked as Clark's VP.

My pragmatism says Clark/Edwards is a winner.

Perhaps you should wait to see if the Edwards camp is even upset by this. I doubt too much that they are. I wonder about the wisdom of Edwards announcing today in his homestate with a big ass hurricane headed straight at it anyway. Also, he has been campaigning for NINE MONTHS! If you believe Clarks announcement hurts Edwards that badly then you must believe that Edwards is very fragile. I don't think Clarks announcement will affect Edwards any more or any less than the other candidates. I don't think it was Clarks intention for a second to upstage Edwards. Clark is trying to upstage Isabel and get ready for campaigning in Iowa.

Same as they are throwing at Dean - and Kerry.

So I guess these are the folks the GOP fear the most.

While he has no experience with domestic policy, he is articulate and seems to have some good ideas and comes across confident

Now Edwards and Kerry have a bundle of good ideas, as do the others, so I am not certain good ideas get you very far, or break you out from the pack.

Ex-Gen. Wesley Clark to Seek White House

By RON FOURNIER
AP Political Writer

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) -- Wesley Clark, the retired general with a four-star military resume but no political experience, decided Tuesday to become the 10th Democratic presidential candidate, officials close to him said.

"He's made his decision and will announce it tomorrow in Little Rock," said Mark Fabiani, a spokesman for Clark. Fabiani did not reveal Clark's decision, but officials close to the former general said he told his fledgling campaign team that he's in the race.

66. Good news
The race just suddenly got very interesting and that can only help all the Dems.

As for Edwards. . . . does anyone give a good goddamn when or where someone declares. I mean, if you show up for a debate, haven't you "declared."

Some combination of an Edwards/Clark or Clark/Edwards ticket would scare the hell out of the Bushes. It would cut into their two main strengths - the South and the military.
