His announcement speech is awesome.

EDIT: I am editing the subject line, because I should not have said IS.
I should have said he is reminiscent of...

I did lose myself in the moment. His speech was great.

I don't want what happened to RFK to happen to Edwards or anyone else.

5. The youthful optimism. The hope that he brings. The promise.
He will not meet the same fate. But he brings hope at a time we need it.

3. I wish he'd stay a NC Senator
Otherwise NC may have 2 Republican senators for the next 2 decades.

4. May god forgive you for what you have said.
Sacrilege as defined by Webster is equating John Edwards with Robert Kennedy.

7. Well, this is his day. And just watching him in the sunshine making his
announcement, I felt that. And so did another poster in a thread about his speech.

It's just a feeling.

9. not from where I sit
My impression of John Edwards is that he is too DLCish for my tastes.

Bobby represented something that alive in many of us back in the 60's. And it has not been seen for many decades.

We took to him for many reasons, including what he said, how he said it, and what he meant to us. For once, the political process appeared to be workable.

But, we know how that turned out.

So, please, hold off on the second-coming comparisons.

12. His little kids just ran up to him. It's that kind of thing that is
remiscent.

And he seems to care so much more the common man, for giving every body an opportunity.

13. Plus the man just oozes charisma.
I like the fact that he doesn't come from a rich background - he seems to have a lot of empathy for the common person. I'm supporting Clark but I'm also going to send money to Edwards because I'd like to see him stay in the race.

How many times did he say his Pappy was a mill worker?

16. I'd like to add that I think Edwards has a lot of substance,
Edited on Tue Sep-16-03 11:05 AM by Skwmom
I watched the fight on the floor of the senate for a patients bill of rights and thought he did a great job.

On edit: I also read the other day how Edwards has been having town hall meetings where he actually answers questions on a wide range of topics. I prefer that to a "sound-bite" candidate any day.

would not have supported the Iraq war. That being said, I agree that Edwards is an attractive candidate.

22. son of a mill worker against the son of a president - or Rove's
race between an ambulance chaser and someone who wants to unleash the entrepreneurial spirit?

I like Edwards - like Will Shakespear (Leaders want to kill the lawyers so that we may have a dictatorship) - I believe America needs a lawyer to fight for our rights - but do we need it as president? But he is a sexy guy and can turn on a crowd - Like Dean his TV power does not match his crowd turn on power .

It will be interesting.

:-)
