WTF is this?!? Faux news subliminal message on my tv? |
|
So I am flipping channels on my new dvd/vcr that runs my tv. It does this nifty little info thing of identifying the channel and what program or movie is on by title in white letters over the screen. Like when I go to American Movie Classics it will display AMC and the movie title that is running. As I flip onto faux I pause for a little bit just to annoy myself. At the bottom of the screen it says: "NEWS FAIR AND BALANCED"!!! Not Fox News.... "NEWS FAIR AND BALANCED"!!! WTF? How did their subliminal message get on my tv?

5. I don;t know exactly what is going on... but I may have an idea: |
|
Some time ago I saw discussion of the fact that some of the bandwidth used for TV broadcasts can be used to send data in parallel to the TV signal.
So it could be that the descriptions coming up on screen are the ones chosen to be sent by the network. Thus when you tune to AMC you see what they wanted you to see - AMC - but when you tune to Fox News, you see what THEY wanted you to see - News fair and balanced.
It seems that they would rather transmit their slogan than their name.
I may be totally wrong, but this seems to be the most reasonable explanation.

6. Faux news is guilty of fraud. Someone should sue them |
|
I'm serious. You're not allowed to defraud consumers. It's against the law
