New GOP internal poll has Bush under 50% approval
September 15, 2003

Bush’s First Sub-50 Approval Rating!

And it’s even in a Republican poll!! (DR doesn’t count the recent Zogby sub-50 reading, because they ask the approval question differently.) In the just-released Winston Group/New Models poll for the House GOP conference, W’s approval rating clocks in at 49 percent, with 46 percent disapproval. How sweet it is.

The poll also gives the Democrats a 5 point lead (45 percent to 40 percent) in a generic Congressional ballot question. If Karl Rove wasn’t nervous before, he might be starting to break a sweat.

1. I'd love to see a politcal cartoon with Rove Thinking
Thought bubble:
"I'm the greatest politcal mind over the past couple of years and I've only got this miserable failure of a candiate to work with."

3. Anyone know how 5% translates?
If Dems in Congress are up 5% over Repukes, does anyone have any idea how that might translate into actual elections? I'm trying not to get my hopes up but I'm thinking:

Operation CLEANSWEEP in '04!

4. dangerous
These kind of number drops can only make the Pukes more dangerous. if they thing they've got nothing to lose, they can try anything. There is nothing in the world more dangerous than an animal backed in to a corner.

5. I wonder if this means the mainstream pollsters
are inflating Bush's numbers to keep him above 50 percent. I mean, if an internal GOP poll has him at 49 percent, that certainly wouldn't understate his rating.

6. If they go under 40%, they might not be able to steal the next "election"
Of course, I could be wrong.

7. Stolen Votes
They will if a bigger deal is not made about the Diebold voting machines. Shouldn't the ease of hacking these systems be bigger news?
