16. Yeah, it's called heavy drinking

Those things are spider angiomas, a sign of prolonged heavy drinking. They can appear months or years after a drunk stops drinking, but it's more common to see them while he's still getting blotto.

His pohoto ops in Texas will show them the most clearly as the concealer melts away. Old photos in the European press BC (before concealer) were not airbrushed the way they are in the US, and you could see them quite clearly. He has one on his left cheek and one over the bridge of his nose. He may have a small one on his right cheek, but one rarely sees his right side, all the better to conceal the earpiece.

Maybe that could explain why they try so hard to cover up the leisions with pancake makeup. Maybe he's dying and he knows it but we won't know until after.

At sundown, he puts on his suit and goes out patrolling the streets fighting Criminals and terrorist, risking his life for the good of common man. No criminal should be allowed to roam the streets and as long as there is Batman the streets are safe. The scars are mementoes from battles.
