NPR is hitting with one slam after another.
Edited on Sun Jul-13-03 09:21 AM by Jackpine Radical
First Daniel Schore
then the news
Now some ex-CIA guy doing an extended interview hitting them on everything--the CIA heroically resisted admin pressure to lie about Saddam & Osama--Wolfowitz a major force--Tenet finally caved.
The intelligence was cooked
Interview was with McGovern

Now someone else (someone from The Nation--I missed who) slamming intelligence going back to Bay of Pigs. Says either bad intel or lies by admin.

Host (Bob Edwards?) "If admin is manipulating intel, we're all in trouble."

1. About effen time!
I used to donate to public radio in our state, but the NPR shows became so conservative I stopped sending the monthly check, and began listening to American Urban Radio instead. Glad to see the pendulum swings back.

2. Great--confirms that Tenet's "confession" was an indictment
Didn't listen this a.m., but the press--even the enfeebled NPR--are picking up on the fact that between the lines of Tenet's vague and passive-voiced and obfuscatory so-called mea culpa was a confirmation of the Kristof/Gjelten story that the WH was pressuring the CIA to approve something both parties knew to be bullshit. Or as TPM put it,

Read Tenet's 'mea culpa' (self-criticism session?) closely and you'll see it points right back at Condi Rice's NSC.

As I've been saying since Friday. Condi first blamed Tenet to the press from AF-1, then Karl said "You better call him and make him back your play or we're all in shit," and so Condi put the screws--she thought--to Tenet. And Tenet complied in a way that can put a stiletto right in her and the *admin's backs, if anyone cares to pick it up and use it.

3. Rummy and Russert on Meet the Press
had stated that it was know and the CIA wanted it deleted from the SOTU. They knew months ahead of time.
