I'm shocked at what I'm reading lately on FR
There's been quite a bit of this lately over there on several different threads. Of course there are a great deal of Bush bots, but still, makes for interesting reading at times.

From:

http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/983503/posts

Cheney will probably have to leave along with Rummy, Powell, and Condi before this thing is through.

The Atta in Prague meeting is discredited. We know he was in the US at the time in Virginia Beach, so we know that the meeting didn't take place, at least when it was alleged to have happened.

I do find it insulting that Cheney would bring that crap up, when we KNOW that Saudi Arabia has it's hands in 9-11. We have much more evidence of Saudi complicity than Iraqi complicity. But, they are our friends.

15 of 19 were not coming from Iraq now were they?

I am not disputing that Hussein is evil, and Iraqis shouldn't be thankful to get rid of that S.O.B. I just am still waiting for the evidence that Iraq and Saddam Hussein were more complicit than Saudi Arabia in supporting Osama Bin Laden.

Since the WMD hunt has turned up bupkis, the major rationale for Iraq now appears to be their link to Osama. Since the Saudi link is stronger, does that mean we invaded the wrong country?

You're right.

My point should have been that Presidents, both Republican and DemocRAT have supported murderous despots when it was convenient and disposed of them when they outlived their usefulness.

The names may change, but the game remains the same.

If he was our enemy, why is Rummy shaking Hussein's hand.

Back then, he was our friend in spite of the fact that he was using WMDs on his own people. Back then, we overlooked that fact.

Now, according to some in the administration, it was one of the reasons we went to war.

So, friends and enemies is a very fluid game dependant upon Presidential needs.

Well, he did. Russert asked him about the poll that 70% of Americans believe Saddam was involved in 9/11. Cheney said that he "could see how they reach that conclusion" and then started reeling this stuff off.

It really pisses me off when so-called conservatives start hair-splitting like Clinton.

1. That's Because They're Bill O'Reilly Bots!
Edited on Tue Sep-16-03 03:27 PM by rucky
I heard part of his radio show this morning and was shocked to hear him being critical of the prezzie. he kept telling callers to "Read my column"

so here I go, in to the Freeper Zone...

www.billoreilly.com

If I'm not back in 10 minutes, call a hazmat crew.

on edit: Nevermind. Same buch of crap he usually spews. This is interesting, tho:

"At the same time, the Bush administration must begin earnestly persuading nations that are not overtly hostile to us that we don't want to dominate the world, we want to make it safe for everyone."

Funny how every paragraph in his columns are one sentence long.

It's like he's writing for 8 year olds.

Dontcha think it's funny?

How he does that?

8. Ha- I listened to that as well, but he was being very dishonest.
Edited on Tue Sep-16-03 03:31 PM by Cat Atomic
As usual.

I do not make a habit of listening to this stuff, but since Bush's $87 billion dollar speech, it's been a guilty pleasure. They're spinning like tops, and even some of their own drones aren't buying it. It's pretty funny.

But as for O'Reilley today, he made a big deal of playing a quote from Cheney on Meet the Press, but he ignored Cheney's "I misspoke" comment and instead played something about Cheney saying he still believes we'll find WMD hidden in Iraq.

"I'm not saying I think Bush is lying because I don't. I just want some answers on (how our intelligence was flawed)".

Extremely softball un-criticism from a phoney sack of shit who's desperately trying to look independent.

At one point, he said to his (supposedly more liberal- haha) cohost, "they still haven't proven that the WMD's are in Iraq".

"But nobody else has *disproven* it!", she replied.

"That's absolutely right!", replied the logically-challenged Irishman.

Hahaha- wow- biting criticsm. Such independent thought! He really is "looking out for me"!

15. Yes.
It is.

But the 8-year-olds are the intelligentsia to which he writes -- most aren't up to that level.

3. Their Administration Has Outrun Its Cover
The Bush administration has outrun...or, more accurately, outlied its cover. They are the oft-cited liar who has lied so much he can't keep track of what is truth and what is fiction, so is forced to lie that much more. That and a red-hot hatred of the average American are the reasons that they still trot out these thoroughly-discredited lies all the while. It is truly so bad now that their supporters see it.

4. Remember to forgive
Pleny of reasons to justify hatred towards "freepers" for having been so blind to begin with, but remember, if they are sincerely open to the truth, we must be prepared to greet them with open arms.

5. I've been noticing the same thing.
At first I thought that these comments were coming from DUers or some other liberal/progressive group. But now, there are way too many comments for that to be true.

The Tom and Arnold deal is causing big rifts in that group. But it also goes back to the prescription drug bill and the farm support. They are constantly saying Whistle Ass is spending like crazy, won't veto any spending bill and that he is not a true conservative.

They are also starting to research neocons and it scares them that they may be the foot soldiers for that group.

So yes, big changes over there.

12. Southhack and Miss Marple are two that are consistantly
doing damage control when the discussion gets critical of this administration. Southhack writes long screeds in the middle of many conversations demanding the freepers don their blinders and return to the fold. Miss Marple overwhelms the conversation with her number of posts telling the freepers to cut it out.

Wonder if these ten are paid staffers of GWB or PNAC.

13. Howlin is another loser over there.
I notice that thread's been up for over 6 hours and only up to 29 posts. That is a "dead Thread' by FR standards, and goes to show how unwilling their little minds are to criticise the vaunted Bush dynasty.

9. The thing you have to remember about FReeps, and I sure hope
I'm right about this, is that they are Americans like the rest of us (well, not EXACTLY like the rest of us, but work with me . . .).
That is, they really want what is best for their country--we just disagree on what is best for our country.

I think what is happening is that extent of the castastrophe that is the Bush un-"presidency" has started to hit home to even the most radical ideologues of the right wing. Even good Nazis had second thoughts at some point. You don't have to be a liberal to see that giving the Executive branch more power to make arrests and interrogations is not a good idea--isn't that what the FReep types got all bent out of shape about at Waco and Ruby Ridge?

You don't have to be a liberal to realize that 1 billion dollars and 7-9 dead American soldiers per week with no WMD's found, no Saddam killed, no oil coming out of Iraq, and no democracy established is not a good thing.

Even by the screwy standards of the Right, this un-"president" is an unmitigated disaster.

11. very interesting, thanks
I'll be checking their Daily Dose thread later tonight to see how the drooling grannies are reacting to the criticisms today.

FR has reallllly shrunk in size and influence since the site fell in line with Bushco. It's a shadow of its former self.

14. It is surprising to see them research and think and reason
just like normal human beings.

Actually a pretty normal and fact driven exchange among them. No ranting denials and insistence that our soldiers are "protecting our freedoms".

Guess this is more evidence in support of the theory of evolution.
