Storm can't keep NASCAR fans from Dover
As soon as they arrived at Dover International Speedway Monday morning, after a 125-mile trek from Leesburg, Pa., Jen and Randy Kline began preparing to evacuate, stockpiling 20 extra gallons of gas.

"As stupid as we are to come, we're smart to be prepared," said Randy Kline, who has been coming to the race since the early 1970s. "You have to have the ticket a year in advance. And the tickets aren't getting any cheaper."

Ah, for the love of NASCAR. Even as Hurricane Isabel threatens to touch down in Delaware, thousands of trailer-towing fans motored into the fields outside the speedway Monday to claim their places for this weekend's MBNA America 400, Stacker 200 and the MBNA America 150 races.

Dover Motorsports executives said they expect to speak with NASCAR headquarters this morning to discuss contingency plans should the storm interfere with races. <snip>

4. What are the odds that Randy Kline is a republican?
"As stupid as we are to come, we're smart to be prepared," said Randy Kline. Wonder if he has a portable supply of duct tape and plastic sheeting to protect him from the hurricane? No, I don't have much respect for minds that are numbed by words from the right and loud engine noise.
