While we attack each other, GOP is trashing Clark
Edited on Tue Sep-16-03 07:31 PM by TakebackAmerica
This is typical of most Democrats. We bash each other while the GOP unites early on. Clark and Dean are good friends for God's sake. Novak is saying Clark begged Clinton for a 4th star. :wtf:
But instead of hitting bak at the reTHUGS we hit back at Clark abd Dean.If we keep this up, Bush will win. Why? Because we will hate the eventual nominee more than Bush.
Message: STOP TRASHING EACH OTHER.

The repub attack is heavy and more strident than usual.

2. Sounds like the GOP is desperate.
But the attacks will only get worse. We'd better get used to it.

4. There are some here who welcome the trashing.
I usually do not speculate about motivation but there seems to be a sense of thwarted entitlement in some of the posts. It is as though they do not think their candidate of favor can compete.

7. It was inevitable.
The only people trashing Clark now are frightened Deanies, Repubs, and the usual fringe leftists for whom no Democratic candidate is far enough to the left. This was going to happen no matter what.

13. Full disclosure
I do like Clark as our nominee. However, I started out as a Graham fan. That's the full disclosure part.

Now the important part.

We've got to recognize that the primaries leading up to the convention are really a test of our candidates. A test to see who can weather the storm. Who has the character to endure? As far as I'm concerned, my beloved candidates must still pass the test. It's a right of passage; the admission to the party. Even the flame wars up here are part of the test. If the candidate has "the right stuff" he/she (in due and respectful deference to Carol Mosely Braun) will prevail.

18. Fringe leftists?
Your candidate holds EXACTLY the same positions as mine. How is it that my candidate, Dean, is a fringe leftest but yours is mainstream?

23. Although I cannot answer for the poster ...
I suspect that the "fringe leftie" reference was regarding those who will support ONLY their guy or they'll take there toys and go Green.

Just a guess though.

9. They Locked The Thread I Posted This In
so I'll repeat myself...

The Republicans practice democratic centralism and Lenininst party discipline while we engage in a circular firing squad...

I'll support a Democrat to the left of me... I'll support a Democrat to the right of me..... I refuse to let the perfect be the enemy of the good.....

Our country is on the wrong track....

Something must be done....

10. Dean and Clark supporters have no reason to bash each other...
since they both hold basically the same positions. Yet, as a Dean supporter, I've got to say that the negative vibes coming from the Clark supporters, such as, Dean supporters are a bunch of "adolescent morons" or Dean supporters should listen to the "adults" is a real turn-off.

than Clark supporters would to vote for Dean. That might be an indication of which group of supporters holds more animosity towards the other.

16. Party = not united when they don't have the white house
It's natural that we aren't united behind one person because we don't even have the white house. Even DURING the Reagan administration Newt Gingrich would often criticize Bob Dole for being "pro-taxes". Republicans are only united when they can do whatever they want.

21. Time to unite.
If we don't get be behind a Clark/Dean or Dean/ Clark or a Dean/ Kucinich etc. we will waste precious dollars. Those dollars could make the difference in a tight state.

28. I like all of the candidates including Clark
But non the less we are pandering to the ideal that we must have a strong military man because bush is soooo well liked among those that love violence and war. And we think we might get some of those votes if we just play the me-to game.
But again we are playing the Repug game, which is to chouse the issue, and then get us to commit to it so they can hit you with a stinger that they already have ready. They chouse the issue by getting the media to ask the question. Are the Demos too soft on war? No we have our own General we say. And from then on it goes downhill as we defend our positions.
But I will predict this; that in the next few months the media will try to goad Clark or Dean to attack one another. Just as they did to Bradley against Gore in 00. And my guess is that it will be military based such as whispering in Clarks ear; (you are behind in the polls you better question Deans military record or you will not win)
And no matter who starts it the story will be about the one attacked so that he feels tempted to fight back, and the media will be loving it.
I hope we don’t fall for that one again and can set the agenda of what we want to talk about and perhaps for once put them on the defensive.
