Martha Stewart, Sirius ink deal

Domestic diva to create 24-hour radio channel

NEW YORK - Six weeks after being released from federal prison, Martha Stewart has reached a deal with Sirius Satellite Radio Inc. to create a 24-hour channel featuring cooking, gardening and entertaining programming for women.

--

The companies did say that Stewart herself would also appear on the radio channel, which was expected to be called Martha Stewart Living Radio

--

Chance Patterson, a spokesman for XM, said that his company had spoken with Stewart’s representatives but declined to make a deal with her.

“We evaluated this deal and passed on it, particularly given what we felt was a limited ad revenue return for our investment,” Patterson said. “We were more interested in doing a show. We didn’t feel it justified doing a whole channel.”

4. If Martha would have a show "Politics for mom and dad" or 'women'
And really discuss issues in a way that would educate listeners it could be a huge draw. I like Diane Rehm for this reason. A woman with compassion, intelligence, and reason. Sirius should think about Diane, Amy Goodman, and Martha.

6. This is quite a quandry for me...
Im pissed at AAR for selling out, and I have been in love with Martha since i was 16, and currently in love with randi. I wish i would have waited just six months before i bought my whole damn XM system. This is awful.

7. I don't see how Martha Stewart's beautifying thig would work on radio
Radio flower arrangement, craft projects you can't see? Maybe I don't get it, but unless she's branching out into something really differnt I can't see how that would make good radio.

She's a very talented woman, perhaps she'll really surprise me.

8. It may explain why Siris is still above $5.00
 Martha has a pretty large following. I don't think they cast aside AAR for Martha. I think XM lured AAR away with cash and Sirius got lucky with Martha.

:woohoo:

/sarcasm

(sorry if I just pissed in your wheaties, but I had to say it :D)

Well good for her to have her own radio show now. Still can't hold a candle AAR....unless she starts talking politics. That might get interesting with her showing us how to cook and make home look really kewl. I would be up for that.

10. boy am I EVER glad I did not buy SIRIUS stock
I thought about it briefly. After discussing with a few friends I decided NO was the answer. That lifetime subscription hook for $495.00 made me turn the other way and run fast.

I knew they'd go up in smoke! :smoke: :smoke: :smoke:

:kick:
