Drudge joins in the clark-smearing
under the clark announcement story he puts this:

'Flashback: Brit General stops Wes Clark 'from starting WWIII'... '

it links to this story from 2000:
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/671495.stm

you can understand drudge's fear. i mean, imagine if we had a president who went around starting wars for no good reason...

'Fuck Saddam. We're taking him out."
--George W Bush, Spring 2002

3. Surprise, surprise...
...I have to wonder if Clark knew what he was getting himself into. I eman, the Rethugs don't need to go after Dean because the other dems are doing that for him, and that gives them plenty of time to bash Clark.

5. WWIII, huh? What countries would have been fighting...
this "WORLD war?" People should really think about their hyperbolic rhetoric before they speak.

8. we're already in World War III --
it's just that it is happening in slow motion, or at least a different concerted level than the previous two. Now there ten, but Clark is more famous for being a CNN war color commentator than a general. General-wise, he was a bit of a flash-in-the-pan. Still is, actually. I still support the excellently self-destructive Howard Dean. But only Kerry or maybe Gebhardt have the feet-on-the-ground political machines to mop-up the primary leftovers in Boston and take the nomination, but that eventuality thrills me not.

6. PUH-lease
Have they no shame? Do they really think that we have the attention span of a drukengnat or a freeper? They must know that we know this utter bullshit especially in the light of the reckless actions of the former Governor of Texas.

13. Wouldn't you know...
Let's just search out all of the rebuttals and send them off.

Oh hell, we may as well ship out the other two:

1) Waco

2) ....he has no positions

This is all about raising Clark's negatives, because right now he has none. Once they can convince enough people to have negative pre-conceptions, then the real pounding begins.

God I hate those Nazi tactics.

15. Ummmm. . . . . .
I distinctly remember reading that very same article when it was printed. Are you insinuating that a man's record is not fair play in politics?

17. No exactly the opposite

In fact in another article Mike Jackson has referred to the incident as a "disagreement." The link was part of a long discussion at kos and unfortunately I didn't think ahead to saving it.

I did save a post from Clark's son, and yes, he has been a poster at kos long before the current attention to his father.

________________

"He didn't order Jackson to start WWIII by attacking the Russians at Pristina airfield - he ordered Jackson to have our choppers land on the air strip before the Russians arrived and therefore deny them the ability to land the thousands of troops they were attempting to airlift in. Luckily, Bulgaria came through at the last instant and closed their airspace to the Russians."

To explain futher - from Clark's book "Waging Modern War"

The danger was that if the Russians got in first, they would claim their sector, and then we would have lost NATO control over the mission. I had closely observed the double standard the Russians had applied while working for us in the Bosnia mission. They took care of the Serbs, passing them information, tipping them off to any of our operations, and generally doing their best to look after their "fellow Slavs" while keeping up the pretense of full cooperation with us. And in Bosnia we hadn't given them their own sector. If they had their own sector in Kosovo, they would run it as a serperate mission, and Kosovo would be effectively partitioned. page 377

16. One thing I really like about Clark's candidacy is
Edited on Tue Sep-16-03 09:36 PM by Cat Atomic
that it puts the right wing talking heads in a very compromising position. They've been convincing their viewers for years that military service is the definition of righteousness. They've been saying that they represent the troops, while the Democrats are just cowardly, whiny do-nothings.

Alot of their viewers/readers are going to have a hard time believing that when they see nothing but idiots like Coulter, Hannity, Drudge, O'Reilley, etc. bashing a four star general.
