...which a freeper used at some rally or another, in which he misspelt the word. I personally have never really thought the joke all too funny and am afraid that eventually, someone's going to think we just don't know how to spell here.

Im sure someone will post the picture for you. The term 'moran' originated from a picture showing a Bush/Pro-war supporter with a large sign during a protest. He was calling Liberals/Anti-war people morons, but mis-spelled it, "morans".

It kind of stuck as an example of how stupid some of the Right are.
