All the idiots who have been saying this and beleiving it and buying into it are going to experience HARDCORE COGNITIVE DYSFUNCTION!! The disconnect will be overwhelming and the admin. can only lose with this tact!!! Does not compute! Their base is gonna FREAK!! They're flopping around like beached whales!! They're losing it!

1. Actually they thought it through.
Edited on Tue Sep-16-03 09:31 PM by neuvocat
They're using an equivocation, an emotional link to mislead people. Of course they started getting roasted over it and they will use the fact that no specific language was ever used to link the two.

How far they get away with it however is another story. They'll be cornered as having the wrong priorities since they were supposed to find OBL in the war on terrorism.

2. They fucked up
Edited on Tue Sep-16-03 09:34 PM by Beetwasher
They made an EMOTIONAL investment and now they trying to draw a LOGICAL conclusion from it...Ain't gonna happen, it leads to a psychological meltdown...That's where they're heading w/ their base...Unfortunately, now that I've settled down off of my "glee" over this news, I realize it's actually VERY DANGEROUS. Many of the fundamentalist radicals that have been buying this fantasy are now going to have no option but to awaken from their trance. You do know about the warnings about waking sleepwalkers don't you? They are often violent...This is a very similar situation...

9. I hope so...
I hope so... Listen, when Lerher tried to corner Rummy about the fact that the Administration made it sound like the after-war would be no sweat, a week or so ago, Rummy said he never said that; other people said it, he said, but you won't find a quote of me saying that.

I think they are hoping nobody keeps track of what they say as a whole. Or perhaps they are truly losing it. -CV

3. Read Orwell's 1984
They are not concerned about changing their stories and whatnot because the general public accepts whatever malarkey is thrown on them without remembering it's always the same malarkey.

danger. The harder the Iraqis fight, the more I hear "them bastards don't appreciate what we're doing for them, we should pull out and nuke them".

6. Liars don't know when to stop.
They really don't. Also, have you ever noticed that liars talk out of the corners of their mouths? Now I am not saying that everyone who talks that way is a liar, but I have noticed that many who lie do. I mean look at Cheney, Rummy, Condi and Bush when they talk. The corners of their mouths really get workout when they are telling lies. Maybe this is where the crooked smile analogy comes from.

7. Not cracking...strategizing ORWELL STYLE
Edited on Tue Sep-16-03 09:38 PM by tom_paine
Soon the Orwellian Rewrite of History...which now we have seen MANY TIMES in varying degrees, most recently being the end of "major" combat operations.

Now you can take me to Room 101 to have the rats gnaw through my cheeks, Bunnypants* but you never said MAJOR!

So soon it will be, "What, we never said there was a link between Saddam and 9-11. We were quite clear on this issue from the very start."

And you know what? The Right-Wing Sub-Media will scream it 24/7. Then Corporate TV Pravda will take up the cry, with 90% of VRWC spin intact and a handful of scattered opposition, for a couple weeks 24/7. Before long everyone will be editing themselves (I'm afraid to look and see if the rewriting goes back into time like in "1984") and that will be "what really happened".

Our beautiful country. What have these monsters done to our beautiful country? Sovietized it.

At least we are still early in the process. When it is possible to believe we are still free (which we aren't, technically, since the Free Press died and they stole our right to vote).

However much longer it lasts.

11. They never had real control though
They thought they did, but they never did. It's out of their control. They will try to "Orwell" the message, it's not a given that it's going to work though...I've seen encouraging signs lately and I think they never foresaw the power of the Net. Al Gore did though!!! Woohooo! Kudos to my main man and the true Pres.!!!!

Or has Winston Smith's department expunged those transcripts already?

12. Okay, Condi and Rummy say no, Cheney says yes
That's 2-1, no link. See how easy this democracy thing is?

Oh, are you folks still worried about the truth? Concerned over thousands of deaths based on the lie this corrupt administration peddled for seven straight months? Old news. Move on. Clinton's penis.

I think what I like best is Condi saying there was no link, nobody ever said there was a link, yet the story cites the Washington Post poll where 69% of the public now thinks there was a link. Where could they have possibly gotten such a hare-brained idea?

Edited on Wed Sep-17-03 09:12 AM by Woodstock
Rumsfeld, Rice say no link.

Cheney says yes.

And damn it, the media should be giving this attention, since 70% think there is a link, and two top cabinet members (not to mention half the house and senate and any non-liars with a brain) are saying there is not.

The media is in part to blame, and now are going to drop the ball again?

28. Lynne Cheney is looking especially glum lately.
(As if she looks any other way). But I saw her and The Big Dick in a news clip yesterday getting out of a limo. They did not look like happy campers. Do they know they're toast? Has Rove had a little talk with him? Time to fall on his sword? With Clark in the race, Karl will bail on the ever-unpopular Dr. Strangelove in favor of the ever-popular Powell.

15. Nah. But Rumsfeld and Wolfowitz......
ain't lookin' too pretty just now.

Kristol and Connelly (PNAC) gave them a real lashing in Murdoch's Weekly Standard recently calling Rumsfeld the 'Secretary for Obstinancy'. Considering Rumsfeld & Wolfowitz were both PNAC'ers with Kristol it's a significant turn.

I got one. If Bush drops out before the election, I take a trip to your hometown and treat you to dinner at a restaurant of your choice.

If Bush remains in the race, to the election, you come to my hometown (NYC) and treat me to dinner at a restaurant of my choice!

National Security Advisor Rice

"There will always be some uncertainty about how quickly can acquire nuclear weapons. But we don't want the smoking gun to be a mushroom cloud." Secretary Rumsfeld The New Republic (June 19, 2003) September 8, 2002 "Imagine a September eleventh with weapons of mass destruction. 25. See, the thing is, no matter how often they change the story,
they still wind up with a sack of shit.

It's like one long Jedi Mind Trick in there right now...

CONDI: Iraq could have started another 9/11.
REPORTER: But there's no evidence of any link between Iraq and the WTC attacks.
CONDI: There is no link between Iraq and WTC attacks. We never said there was.
REPORTER: So why did we invade Iraq?
CONDI: Because they had weapons of mass destruction.
REPORTER: But they don't have any weapons of mass destruction.
CONDI: Iraq doesn't have any weapons of mass destruction. We never said they did.
REPORTER: So why did we invade Iraq?
CONDI: In order to bring democracy and stability to the region.
REPORTER: But it's not democratic or stable.
CONDI: It doesn't matter that it's not democratic or stable, that's not why we invaded Iraq. I never said it was.
REPORTER: So why did we invade Iraq?
CONDI: These aren't the droids you're looking for.
REPORTER: :wtf:

They're fresh out of lies. They've pulled so many justifications for this war out of their collective ass that their collective ass is now just a gaping and empty void.

C ya,

30. While she may have a point, the admin. certainly has inferred a link...
They say "Saddam Hussein" and "9/11" in the same sentence over and over and over again. They may not come out and say "Saddam caused 9/11" but the inferrence is there, and it has had the exact effect they wanted it to have: 70% of Americans believe Saddam had something to do w/ it.
