What really happens inside those $2K/head fundraisers
UPPER DARBY -- President George W. Bush made his first appearance in Delaware County in more than a year last night speaking at a pricey fund-raiser for his 2004 presidential campaign.
Bush bounded on the stage, skipping a few stairs on the way, as more than 700 supporters at the Drexelbrook Catering and Banquet Facility cheered him lustily with chants of "four more years."

(/propaganda)

So I spent a miserable two and a half hours standing outside that event locked in a "1st Ammendment" pen in the pouring rain last night but from what I heard (I have friends who were inside the main event) it was really no better inside.

A week before the Shrub arrived, servers at Drexelbrook catering attended a mandatory security meeting where they were told they had to arrive on the day of the event at 3:00 PM and would be locked inside until the arrival of the boy blunder. Even if they suffered a major heart attack, nobody would be allowed in or out of the catering facility until Bush* was safely ensconced.

Much of the prep time was spent pasting arrows on the floor and taping signs with the names Sen. Santorum, Sen. Specter and Mr. pResident on the floor where the various repuke luminaries would be giving their speeches. Given that the stage is only about 10 ft. wide, this seemed like overkill but to the surprise of many inside, jokes were being bandied about when the 'Mr. pResident' sign was being taped to the floor. One such ditty was "Shouldn't we just write 'This is where you're supposed to stand, dumbass?'"

During the festivities, those who paid $2000/head were served cold, gristly cheesesteaks, lousy hoagies and for dessert, water ice. Way to go, freetards!

From what I heard, Bush's speech was punctuated with applause lines that were almost unanimously ignored, and in fact the secret service had to shush people up during the speech because most of them spent the entire 30 minutes loudly complaining that the bar had been closed. OK, my estimation of these people just rose a notch. Apparently Curt Weldon (R-Boeing) was more gracious than that and simply pushed bartenders out of the way as he went behind the bars and helped himself to free liquor.

All in all, the reports of an enthusiastic crowd (which was supposed to exceed 2000 and barely topped 700) were greatly exaggerated. That's my report for whatever it's worth.

Tipping was sub-par for such a high-priced function, BTW.

1. they sacrifice babies and drink their blood
then they show kiddie porn on overhead viewers, eat puppies on skewers and compare syphillis remedies. When its all over, they
decide which thuglican will be the designated child rapist for
their state, stick red hot pokers up their asses and leave in
limos.

Sort of like that.
