NPR: Powell's caught lying about site photos

Powell's presentation busted by Iraq

You probably won't hear it on the main stream media but NPR is reporting that the Iraqis took journalists to the two sites that Powell used in his presentation and proved to them (not sure if any inspectors were present but go to the NPR website to hear a replay) that those sites were not what Powell claimed that they were. In addition, both sites had been visited by the inspectors at least 10 times in the last 6 months.

1. You mean Powell lied to the Security Council in February?
Wow, who would have thought?

3. True of all the sites
I think everything that Powell presented was visited at some point, before or after his presentation, but definitely BEFORE the invasion and nothing was found. That's why in his presentation he showed them supposedly 'cleaning' the sites. That's also why Hans Blix said all the 'intelligence' he'd been given was bunk or something like that. And while there are no UN inspectors in Iraq, alot of samples have been sent to European facilities and nothing has been found with those tests either. This timebomb will go off when things are stable in Iraq so the soldiers on the ground don't have to take the heat of the whole thing, that's what I think.

5. Possible factor.
"This timebomb will go off when things are stable in Iraq so the soldiers on the ground don't have to take the heat of the whole thing"

This could certainly be part of the dynamic. Stabler, anyway. Or anything that changes this jeopardized troop loop.

4. Powell? Lie? In public?
I can't believe that any member of the Bush/PNAC cabal would ever tell the truth, so this is no surprise.
