20. I would suppose a few were killed in 'Nam... |
|
You don't receive a Silver Star for sitting on the sidelines, nor do you get a Purple Heart for being a REMF, (except under very unusual situations).
In any case, the orders came from above. Since that has been brought forward, how many has bush ordered killed by the fiasco in the Middle-East? War sucks, regardless.

This demagoguery is ridiculous. Feels like some of you have been getting training from the right-wing thugs on how to paint your opponents with overblown rhetoric, conjecture, and ad hominem attacks. Congrats.

4. I really do not blame him |
|
He was tasked with a very hard job in a truly awful situation. His team worked very hard to avoid civilian casualties (which were extremely low by any modern military standard), and most of the civilian casualties resulted from pilot error or poor intelligence (like the Chinese embassy, which was marked as an offical Serbian Intelligence center on the CIA maps). In war, one must balance the cost of action with the cost of inaction. Clearly the Serbs had to be confronted or they would grow more and more bold. The biggest root of civilian casualties was Clinton's 'no casualties policy' which forced the military to fly their planes higher than usual. Clark also wanted to use ground troops, and helicopters which have less risk of hitting civilian targets than high level bombers--Clinton vetoed it.
If anyone deserves responsibility, it was the Serbs first, for waging a truly cruel war against the ethnic Albanian Kosovars and secondly to the political leaders of the NATO countries and the Muslim KLA guerillas

I'm just interested in a number right now. I know it's morbid and morally explosive, but he wants to be President and I want to know.

That's bollocks. So Ted Bundy didn't kill anyone until the court case that convicted him?

with your tax dollars? If you're looking for someone to blame, start with your own house and pocketbook. You help Bush kill more every day, don't you? Keep writing those checks baby.

14. How many people has Bush killed? |
|
The last estimate I saw was about 5-7 innocent civilians for each 9/11 WTC victim, and this does not include the people that Bush sent to the Texas gallows without even bothering to read their appeals.

27. THIS IS THE MOST RIDICULOUS POST I'VE EVER SEEN ON DU |
|
Edited on Wed Sep-17-03 07:20 AM by marshallplan
And, trust me, I've seen a lot.
This is pure flame bait.
You could as easily have asked how many people Kerry killed, or drag up the Tawana Brawley case yet again.
We have an historic opportunity here to put up an amazing candidate against *, be it Dean, Kerry or Clark - to name my favorites.
This nasty habit of character-assassination before anyone even knows where he stands on various issues is pure Rovism.
Nofacts did it last night on Crossfire, trying to make the case that Clark was going to be "thrown out of the army with only 3 stars until he went running to his buddy Clinton".
Are you a lurker, or do you REALLY want to put up the best candidate possible against the Smirk?
Bitter in-fighting is not the way to do it, GROW UP.

24. This is America and we have an aggressive military. .. |
|
We're never going to be like Sweden no matter how much you will it. Most presidents have been in the military. Many of them may have caused loss of human life. When our country calls soldiers to serve that's what they all do. Leave the last two.
Whatever candidate you support will not be well served by attacks like this.
Another thing you Clark-hatas should consider when you make these attacks over the internet. The media trolls DU. It won't take them long to figure out which candidate's supporters are making these attacks. It won't be long before your whisper campaign reaches the mainstream media and they figure out where it's coming from. So keep it up. Make Clark's day.
