Democratic Hall of Fame (weekly nominations)
I think with all the scorn, it's easy to forget about OUR heros with in the Democratic Party. I'd like to have a weekly thread where we post nominations for Democrats who stand up to the B*ush administration.

We could link stories of interest and back up our case so to speak. I hear so much negativity about 'democrats' here, I'd like to remember those that fight the good fight.

We could nominate people like...

Dennis Kucinich for speaking out and fighting for what's right..
Howard Dean "
Robert Byrd "
The list goes on.

I don't want to debate any ones choice, as all nominations should be respected here, and in the end well have a poll to determine the Democratic Winner of the Week.

I think in this climate it's too easy to let the news 'censor' our Democratic Heros. They've done a mighty fine job of convincing most that Democrats don't stand up. Serves them well I might add. Thank Goodness for truthout, the news paper and many other online sources of real news ey?

Thoughts?

*footnote: please don't debate me on this, if you don't want to partake, uhmmm don't*

1. By the way, I don't think it has to be limited to elected Democrats?

For instance, Eli Pariseau of Moveon.org deserves a nomination for battling the FCC regs and WINNING. Among other things .

2. Edwards
Sen. Edwards, in announcing his candidacy yesterday, said Shrub was interested only in the rich. This point is well taken, and needs to be repeated over and over, especially to folks standing in unemployment lines.

4. I must nominate Rep. John Murtha for his performance at the
Congressional press conference yesterday with Nancy Pelosi.

I may have some issues or points on which I disagree with him, but he was speaking truth to power yesterday, raining fire and brimstone on this malAdministration. If they replay it on c-span, or put it up on their site, be sure to watch this. Just great.

And Senator Byrd, of course.

16. Second the motion.
Murtha for supporting our troops and calling for responsibility.

Pelosi for more guts than usual.

Kucinich for being a real FDR Democrat all his life.

Byrd for most principled long-term opposition to Bush stupidity.

Texas Democrats.

We have a lot of heroes!
