|
How many times does a candidate have to announce to really announce?
I'm thinking about announcing I'll announce my decision by fill in the date I've decided that I will announce I'm announcing...
Not to knock Clark's campaign, several others have done similar tricks. Is this something taught in marketing classes? Wringing out all possible push from a single event?

Why not "Special Announcement" or the trademark "Breaking News"... this is exciting as hell...the repubs are sweating in their boots about now...!

Thanks everyone, compliments a "Wes Wing" sign.
"My name is Wes Clark, I AM from Little Rock, and I'm here to announce that I'm here to seek the Presidency of the United States of America!"
<we want Clark chants>
Long journey for my family and me from Little Rock. From West Point to Vietnam, to ?34? years in the army. Proud to be back home in Little Rock.
A new journey, a journey I couldn't begin without all of you. Friends, family, high school classmates, business partners, the 100's of people who are HERE because of the Draft Clark movement. Thank you.
You took an inconceivable idea, and you made it conceivable.
But many things are possible today because we do live in historic times. For the first time since Herbert Hoover's presidency, a president's economic policy has cost us more jobs than our ??? has been able to create.
For the first time since ?1968? there are more Americans fighting abroad, and once again Americans are concerned for their civil liberties.
For the first time since the Cold War, Americans are feeling unsafe. ... We're going to run a campaign that will move this country forward, not back. And we're going to talk STRAIGHT to the American people, because it's time ... the American people deserve to hear the truth, and hear it in plain and simple language.
<and then I got a phone call and had to take a break>

54. Why Are So Many Hesitant To Speak Out and Ask Questions |
|
We're not going to make personal attacks, but we're going to seek out the facts and propose alternatives and reach for the very essence of our democracy!
And in a time of war, we're going to ask those questions and propose those alternatives in the highest sense of patriotism.
So we are going to hold the administration accountable for its policies and results. Remember, the results belong to all of us. There's a foundation that we must build anew. This campaign will lay out a plan to restore the millions of jobs that have been lost...
...we'll work out how to deal with historic deficits...we'll find a way to restore safety and security for all of America, and a sense of safety and security for all Americans. We're going to travel the country.
In the coming weeks, a major speech on the economy. Open, honest, coverage and debate this country deserves.

57. Forward With a New Vision |

To bring our children and grandchildren into that vision...
We can do better. We will do better. And we will do it together.
So that's our campaign.
<laughter>
We're mustering resources, building a nucleus, drawing inthe support of people all across this great land. We're moving forward. We need your help, in Little Rock, in Arkansas...
But I want to reach out especially to Iowa, New Hampshire, South Carolina. And everywhere in America, get ready. We're moving out!
Thank you!

Judy Woodruff has been exceptionally kind to Clark, what gives? The speech hit * very very very hard. I loved it, kept coming back to making the administration accountable. CNN whore right now sayin no specifics. Now that the "General" has declared all of a sudden it is not national security but the economy, how they shift in the wind. * is cooked, if the economy is the main campaign theme *'s toast, if it is national security *'s toast.

He's brilliant and has the World's Greatest Resume, but he needs to work on his speaking skills a bit, I think. The stump is going to make or break Clark, and I thought he was a little stiff today.
IMHO, the best stump speaker of the Ten is John Edwards, followed closely by Dean.

Perhaps I was hoping for more, after waiting all this time for this moment. But Clark needs to relax a bit and add some of his famous intensity to his speeches.
Hopefully it will come naturally after he's been out on the stump a while.

If more people got to see his speech yesterday, LOL, you'd see I'm right!
Clark did a good job, though, I thought. It is imperative, imperative that he does some work with Carville/someone like Carville. But he did much better than I expected for someone who never had to do anything like that before. What you read as 'stiff' I read as inexperienced, and unlike some others Clark does not appear to be a know it all, and therefore exacerbate his own flaws.
