Which is a better ticket: Dean/Clark or Clark/Dean? |
|
I'm serious. I can't figure it out.
I think Bush/Cheney sets an important and useful precedent of the veep having a lot of power. Obviously I detest Cheney (for whom a special seat is reserved in Hell, I'm quite sure) but his re-fashioning of the veep role might help the public understand that you really are getting the benefits (and pitfalls) of both candidates.
I think they could end up on the same ticket. Setting aside the power-mongering involved, I wonder which way I want that ticket to go.
Clark as Dean's veep might make for a more effective ticket than the other way around. But I'm not sure.
Opinions?

2. Either would be formidable |

It would be a winning ticket no matter how you slice it. Clark/Dean Dean/Clark, * can not beat it.

Clark and Dean are our 2 strongest candidates, and probably the two who could win.

5. I seriously like the ticket of |
|
Dean/Clark. My mission is to evict *bush and company.....
I truely believe we need this combination. Dean has a terrific grassroots base and political experience to put him ontop. Most of all it will now be a team effort. Not like yester year when the vice president was "the spare".

6. You've got an economics professor, four star general, and investment banke |
|
r who was Supreme Allied Commander of Europe's NATO forces.
vs. a doctor and governor of the second smallest state in the country, who did investment banking (or other Wall STreetery) for a year or two....?
Depends on who you think has the best relevant experience.
What I want to know is why some people are pushing a ticket of the two, as if there's reason to believe that may happen.

11. perhaps just speculation |
|
I don't know if anyone is pushing it, so much as trying to consider all the options.
I'd love to see a Clark/Sharpton ticket if only because the quality of the debates would be world class smackdowns of our inarticulate enemies. These two have already said they will endorse each other's campaign, depending on who is nominated, which is interesting, but one probably shouldn't read too much into it.
There are lots of good combinations with the various candidates, the mind spins with the possibilities. Or at least my tiny mind does.

7. I think that a Dean/Clark Ticket is probably more logistically feasible |
|
Seeing Clark's late entry into the race (plus I have been advocating this ticket since June), but depending on how Wes does, I could definitely could see a Clark/Dean ticket. Both would be formidable, both I would vote for... but then again, I would vote for a (Mickey)Mouse/(Donald) Duck ticket, if it meant not another four years of Harken/Halliburton.

No offense to Dean but I don't think he can win in a presidential slot when his wife fails to support him or even be photographed with him. This may work in Vermont but it's too weird for middle America. We need to win, this isn't just about getting the message out, it is about getting the thieves out of office while we still have a few coins left to rub together. This country will survive only as banana republic backwater if we have to endure much more Whistleass. I honestly believe we have a state of emergency.

her own career as a family doctor is not supporting her husband? I'm so glad we're in the 21st century.
Remember how offended people were that Hillary was so involved in the campaign and then the administration? As usual, no matter what the (Democratic) woman does, it's wrong.

16. it's a non-factor my friend |
|
look at it this way. Will anyone who hates gay rights vote for a democrat, ever? NO. Will people who are Dems. ever not vote for a Dem. candidate b/c he supports gay rights? No. It's a non-issue. The people who hate equal rights for gay people are already going to vote with the religious right, it doesn't matter who we nominate. So it really is a non-issue in my book.

13. For the debates, Dean/Clark is a good trump. |
|
Dean tears Bush a new one. He thinks on his feet and replies sharply to any curve they try to throw him.
Clark calmly makes Cheney look like the misguided chickenhawk that he his.
In the reverse case (Clark/Dean), Clark points out Bush's flaws but struggles a bit with winning the crowd over. Bush does his scripted pause thing. Clark comes back with common sense answers. This one will be seen more as a draw...the divided country likes who they were going to vote for anyway. Clark has slightly less fire & charisma than Dean, but is intelligent without being condescending. When Dean debates Cheney, he reads him the laundry list of conflicts of interest and makes a good case for throwing him out in '04.
However, Clark will probably wind up on top and can choose whomever he wants. There are rumors it will be Dean, and they like each other's positions. However, Clark/Edwards has a nice ring...the senator in trouble in his own state gets to ripen on the vine for four or eight years, then becomes an electable frontrunner. I'm lukewarm on Edwards' votes and positions on a few things, but he's otherwise okay. Dean's my first choice right now, but he has a tendency to say things off the cuff that seem contradictory, then has to backtrack or reword. He's been working on that lately, it seems. I hope it doesn't happen, but he could get himself in trouble with things like that, when it comes to the general election. (No pun intended)

I say Dean/Clark because Dean has the campaign experience and the domestic policy down. Clark would then become a seasoned politician for when it is his turn.

What does Dean give to Clark that he cannot get from in greater quanity and quality from another democrat?
Dean/Clark, will not happen. That is a the dream for the Dean team. Not the Clark team.

:eyes:
how about these for starters? A fiscally responsible candidate in a time of extreme budget crisis, a candidate whose anger at the current state of this country's govt. has rallied thousands upon thousands in the base and brought in countless more who were disenchanted with politics as usual. I myself think they are complimentary, but I (a Dean supporter) in no way think that one aids one more than the other. They have PROVEN (read: PROVEN, not supposed) strengths in different areas, and as an aggregate entity on the ticket, I think it makes a strong one either way.

Because Clark can tear Shrub a new one on National Security issues and Dean can't be attacked by Cheney (easily) on gay civil unions because Cheney's daughter is gay.
If it's Dean/Clark then shrub gets to ask Dean what a governor knows about national security and Cheney goes after Clark for having no prior political experience.
So I think Clark/Dean because it plays to Dem strong points vs repub weaknesses.
