We're entering the most dangerous period
I'm concerned the world's about to enter the most frightful chapter of this American nightmare.

The Bush crew are bloodied. Should we rejoice? I think more than ever, we need to be extremely wary.

"Total victory" for many of these people isn't merely electoral. It's the stamping of their imperial template upon the globe. If it looks like they're going down, and there is nothing they can do to reverse it, I believe there are idealogues at the centre of power who will be tempted to take the opportunity their office affords and inflict even more grievous wounds to America and the world than we've yet seen.

But they have lots of cards yet to play. They have the voting machines, they have the dogs of terror and war which have been proven to spike their approval, they have Code Red. I quietly dread that this Spring could be as bloody as 1968, with more good men on the ground. And if the Administration's idealogues believe that nothing can stop them, then they will pursue their agenda without care of consequence.

Overly pessimistic? I hope so. I would love to be wrong. I'm drained by having my fears vindicated.

1. The Bush cabal will do whatever is necessary to hold on to power.

I simply cannot evision the current administration giving up The White House. If need be, they will do something dramatic to stay in power.

I know, right wingers said that Clinton would do something dramatic to keep the presidency after his term was up, and they were wrong, but Bush is different. Bush represents a cabal of very ambitious weird men who are, I believe, playing all their cards right now.

2. You may be right
Sad to say, but I've maintained all along that this gang of crooks won't just give back what they've stolen simply because they got caught. It's going to take a concerted effort to wrest our government back from these bloodthirsty greedheads, and I suspect that it could get messy. But win we shall, and it will be time to open up the windows and let the bad air out.

6. "...it could get messy."
Could? There is NO WAY this *cabal will voluntarily cede power. They DO NOT CARE if BILLIONS die in the process. On the contrary, such a scenario makes achieving their aims easier. Fewer dissident defenders to deal with as they take over the world's resources. We need a new Lewis Carroll novel. "Alice" doesn't even come close...

3. Yes, my worst fears vindicated and exceeded
at least early on, when I still ascribed some life to the Old Republic.

At this point, they cannot excveed my worst fears, unless they go full-on Soviet or Nazi prior to the reign of either Emperor Jeb or Emperor Ahnold (I'm a Bushevik but my name ain't Bush so stop saying we're a hereditary Emprie).

Other than that, there sin't much I can think of that would shock or surprise me, given the fact that we now live on Orwell's "Animal Farm".

5. Have you read "The Iron Heel"?
By Jack London, I read it last week. Next on my Dystopia list is "It Can't Happen Here" by Sinclair Lewis, that ought to put me in the paranoia chapionship.

7. I hate to say this but you're probably right.
Bush's ratings are at a pre 9/11 low and I am rather concerned. The thing that scares me is that they just may allow a terrorist attack on American soil again and then we'll have code red. That will mean open season on all people on the left and all those of Southwest Asian and North African orgin. The media will pump up Bush's approval ratings and you may just forget a 2004 election. I am truly scared about this. If this happens, what are we to do?
