Bill Clinton was in my neighborhood last night.
He was speaking at the McCaw Performance Hall, which is two blocks away from my apartment, about how he would handle the current foreign policy. I was not there but I heard and read about it. I was a little preplexed that he said he supported Bush in his war on Iraq (???!!!). Even though he did say Bush should have let the UN conintue their inspection of WMD's. Clinton supporting Bush is the thing that bugs me about these middle of the road Demos. Anyway, here's the news article....

1. Yeah, it sucks that ol clinton was on board for the Iraqi invasion...
It was Wrong then and it's wrong now. Something like that just turns me the hell off. At least Al Gore spoke out against it.

So the World is not totally Crazed!

2. Another thing that differentiates DUers from FReepers...
...is that oftentimes the position on policy eclipses personal opinions about politicians.

The right may paint us with a broad brush as being irrational Bush-haters but the fact is (for me) it's less about the man himself than what the man does. I may dislike the man personally but what I take action about is what he DOES.

Their brand of blind patriotism and propping up the Shrub is a case in point of siding with blind ideology in the face of the facts at hand.

I commend you both for still admiring Clinton, yet deploring his war position. It shows that we don't fall into Manichean lock-step, and are capable of holding two independent and contradictory thoughts in mind at the same time, something they cannot do.

3. He must be fast. He spoke in here in Monterey, CA yesterday afternoon
About 3500 people crammed into the Doubletree's largest conference room, and televised locally thanks to Leon Panetta.
