If Cheney is out in 04, who will be on the ticket with Bush and why? |
|
I think it will be a heavy hitter, Rudy Giuliani; or someone who could draw base votes from the Democrats, Powell or Rice. What do you think?

That's why Pataki has been out raising so much cash for Shrub lately. Shrub may think he can pick up NY and other northeastern states with Pataki on the ticket.

makes sense. He's the only swine around the 9/11 scene who actually looks like "a good guy". Bush wants to appeal to masses again---unfortunately, I don't think people care about #2 anymore; they are just plenty sick of #1. And Rudy would be a hard sell to his base with all that living in sin shit, you know.......man I'd love to hear the spin doctors spin that one.

Do recall what Pat Robertson said to help Arnold. Arnold makes Rudy look like Mr. Church on Sunday. They are for winning first. As a former right winger, I find many on the left that assume their opposites are the purist they are, not true at all.

Not all do. But they get heavy pressure to tow the line. When there is doubt or bashing, and leadership feels the Repug can win and help the Party in general, they send the talkers out to "straighten everybody out". Look at how Limbaugh changed on Arnold. I see a lot of threads here that are under the mistaken notion that the right thinks like the left as far as purity of candidates is concerned.

20. Rudy Giuliani or Liddy Dole |
|
Rudy: The Republican National Convention will be in NYC and it would be a play for NY's electoral motherlode. The Convention is very close to the November election which would not give the religious conservatives enough time to protest a pro-choice, pro-gay rights VP. Anyway, they are not protesting Arnold in California, are they?
Liddy: This is the other bold choice and would be very Rovian like choosing Rudy. Obviously, it would help close the gender gap. She is anti-choice and a Republican "star". ALSO, THERE HASN'T BEEN A GOP TICKET SINCE 1976 THAT HAS NOT HAD EITHER A BUSH OR A DOLE ON IT. THINK ABOUT THAT FACT, IT IS ASTOUNDING.

and that's about it.
Meanwhile, consider the great silence and:
Where is Pat Robertson on Arnold?
Where is Bill Bennetts' "outrage" on Arnold?
Where is Jerry Falwell's concern about "God lifting the protective veil" with Arnold?
Where is James Dobson's "moral" indignation about Arnold?
Silence. Silence. Silence.
As you correctly say, Prodemsouth, "many will hold their nose and go vote for him".

37. Robertson Has Oil Leases in the South Bay Here in L.A. |
|
I'm serious as a Dick Cheney heart attack. Pat Robertson lobbied the Torrance City Council to allow him to begin drilling for oil from one of his oil leases in the Pacific. They shot him down.
I didn't know that Robertson had supported Arnold, but I'm not suprized. Pat Robertson loves his African Diamonds and Oil Leases more than the god he professes to love. What was that about God and mammon?

purist that many on the left think they are. Please see my other post. Pat Robertson defended Arnold. If the argument is made that it helps conservatives, they will get the base to go along. I hate to keep nagging ya'll about it - but I feel it is important for you to learn that the right wing is not as demanding on purity as many of you seem to think they are.

A while ago, I was playing a Ouija board and asked it who would be the next president. It spelled Olsen. I went "What the fuck? Who's Olsen?" I couldn't think of anyone so I asked it the first name. It said Ted. That sent a total creepy-crawly up and down my spine. The guy I was playing with is not politically aware so he didn't even know who Ted Olsen was. If he replaces Cheney I'm going to have to be locked in the loony bin.
On edit: Even if I was subconsciously moving the planchette, there's no way that name was anywhere close to being in my head.

45. Chuck Hagel from Nebraska |
|
He has already reserved a domain name something like "HagelforPresident2008".
Oh, and his campaign treasurer runs the company that owns the company that counts 50+ percent of the votes in the US.
Oh, and he still has a $1-5 million dollar ownership position in that company himself (ES&S - Election Sales and Services) which he somehow never bothered to disclose on his campaign financial disclosure forms.
Oh, and he used to be CEO. Sold his machines to Nebraska, installed them, ran for Senator and became the first Republican in umpteen whatever years to be elected from that voting jurisdiction. In his reelection on those machines he got a record breaking 80% of the vote winning every precinct by landslides, even in predominately minority districts which had never gone Republican.
Oh, and when his ownership interests were disclosed and he was called in by the Senate ethics panel and questioned about it, less than forty-eight hours later the head of the ethics panel was fired and his replacement gave Hagel a clean bill of health within twenty four hours. Nothing to see here. Move along.
Sounds like he'll make a real good moral and ethical match for Bush, no?
