Young Dem Fundraising Ideas? HELP! |
|
I just went to the first meeting this year of the Young Dems at the University of Denver. Come to find out, they (we) are almost bankrupt, and so I am looking to the brilliant minds at DU to come up with some fundraising ideas for our group. The Young Repubs are out in full force, and it's time to STOP THEM! Thanks DU...

Fill an elephant pinata full of democrat goodies - buttons, maybe a book, etc. and let people pay a certain amount to take 3 or 5 swings. Whoever breaks it open gets to keep the goodies. If you're worried about damaging the goodies, just fill the pinata with cheap candy and whoever breaks it open will win the displayed prizes.
A good friend of mine in college made pinatas on the side. She was very good at it, and I suggested to her that she could make a lot of extra money just by selling elephant pinatas to the democrats and donkey pinatas to the republican student groups. She thought it was a good idea but never followed through on it.

3. Hook up with the "Old Dems" |

It's not a replacement for hard work, but the local Dem organization can help you with resources, networking, and perhaps money.
In addition, don't forget to join the student senate or whatever and try to get money from your school.
