Anybody notice C-SPAN's changes for call-ins in last few days?
For a couple of days, the switched the phone lines to "Support GOP" and "Support Democrats", which seemed like the appropriate way to label the phone lines But then, Friday morning, Brian Lamb came back and the lines changed back to "Support Bush" and "Support Democrats"?? It is the same this morning. What is wrong with "Support GOP" rather than "Suppport Bush"? Is C-SPAN attempting to say that it is automatic that if you are GOP, then you support Bush? Why?

1. it inhibits some callers
there are those that support GOP but don't support bush or democrats

so if you don't support bush and don't support democrats -- which phone line do you use?

essentially they are mixing apples and oranges -- if they have a "support bush*" line then they should have a "don't support bush*" line to balance it out

or as you stated -- support GOP / support Dems

I'd like to see the phone lines labeled "Kool-aid drinker" and "nonKool-aid drinker"... lol

2. Are you listerning to the anti-abortion pharmacist on WJ right now?
Edited on Sat Apr-30-05 08:17 AM by CottonBear
Some woman from Tuscumbia Alabama says federal law allows her to refuse to fill morning after pill perscription. She called on the Kool-aid line

Now, a non-Kool-aid drinker is calling, from Canada of course. He's decrying the "religous right."

Now, Kool-aid woman caller ia saying US founded on "religous rights" and so it is OK to refuse to fill the morning after pill.

She thinks the morning after pill is an abortion pill. :grr:

4. Just a thought...

10. I'm sure there are some people who don't know what GOP stands for
Edited on Sat Apr-30-05 08:35 AM by CottonBear
(Grand Old Party) but I'm sure that most C-Span viewers and callers do know.

That would be an interesting survey question to ask of the general public:
Q. What does GOP stand for?
Q. What does PNAC stand for?
Q. What are the specifics of the proposed REAL ID act?

I would bet dollars to doughnuts that most people wouldn't know the answers.
:donut:

edit: We should create a DU scientific poll to survey voter knowledge of these abreviations.

5. LOL! phone lines labeled "Kool-aid drinker" and "nonKool-aid drinker"
Edited on Sat Apr-30-05 08:36 AM by CottonBear
That is a great idea!

Callers are always complaining about the phone line names and the order in which the lines are listed. Lamb said that they change the order each month. I missed the "support GOP" lines. It does make sense to name the line that and I can't imagine why they changed it back to "support Bush."

11. How about:
'Support kool-aid drinking' vs. 'don't support kool-aid drinking'?

Of course, they'd probably label the latter 'support latte drinking.' ;-)

3. Someone Called Pablo On This This Morning....
Could it have been someone from DU???

It's been set up this way for quite a while. Occasionally it would flip to "Support Democrats" "Support Repugnicans", but that's usually when the GOOPie callers complain about it and Brian gets irritated. It changes for a couple days then slips back to "Support Bunnypants" and "Heathens".

6. "Support Bunnypants" and "Heathens" LOL!
:spray: OK, now I'm cleaning up coffee off my keyboard.

I can't believe that the GOP callers are so petty that they waste valuable air time complaining about the phone line names. They want EVERYTHING their way. They are like little children who can't share or play nicely.

12. I Love Saying "Why Are You So Angry"
Last week I encountered a real dittohead who told me Michael Savage tells the truth. He also told me his 2 pack a day smoking habit didn't have anything to do with his mouth looking like Carlsbad Caverns (LOL).

I've punched this guy around before...to easy a target and he was spoiling for me this year. I didn't take the bait...instead I looked at him while he was in mid-froth and asked what he was so angry about? He yells "I'm not angry". Everyone laughs.

So many of these people are, to be subtle, losers, who are preyed upon since the Repugnican racist, intolerant agenda makes these people somehow feel superior...the only boost these people have in their wretched existances. LOL

One day these people are gonna deny they ever said or supported any of this, but I won't forget to remind them.

Cheers! :patriot: :applause:

8. Anyone else think C-SPAN is leaning alittle...
to much to the right lately??? Last week WJ had a bunch of repug senators and Representatives on spewing their talking points on S.S. and no Dems for rebuttal.

15. C-span plays games like that.
Edited on Sat Apr-30-05 09:04 AM by Goldeneye
I can't remember what the topic was, but it was something that most people were against. One of the recent things, where the Republican leadership and a few of their toadies were on one side and the rest of America was on the other side. Anyway, they switched it from Dem/Pub lines, to for and against lines. Then they went back forth between for and against line. Seems to me like a good way to make it seem like it had more support than it did, because the for and against voices got the same amount of time, even though the majority of people were against it.

could've been the bankruptcy bill...or something about Delay. I wish I could remember.

16. The made the change because . . .
Even for them, it was just a step too far to label the lines "Support Popular War-time President" and "Support Treasonous Bastard Democrats". Bunnypants' supporters like to have things spelled out for them, even if it's spelled rong.
