Lee Atwater to Rove: BRAND CLARK ASAP |
|
There is a frantic effort going on by the RNC and WH to BRAND Clark immediately in the minds of the press, in a negative light.
You can bet your wazoo that the mother of public relations offensives has unleashed its wrath already. It's calibrated and will hit Clark again and again and again, feeding the press for months.
Dems should resist the branding.
Remember what happened to Gore? They were able to brand him as a liar and a phony up front. It never stopped.

Why, if we could stop branding people as irresponsible liberal peaceniks, than the Democratic Party rank and file could have a free and open primary without interference from the right-wing media. Oh wait, we can't have Howard Dean doing well, that damned McGovernite secret right winger.
My sympathy is slightly diminished by the fact that Lieberman, Kerry, and Gephardt are just as bloody guilty as the GOP.

Did Rove speak to him via a seance?
Please understand I despise them both. I hope Atwater's burning in hell. No doubt Rove considers him a role model. But it doesn't render your post any less outrageous.

16. Lee Atwater repented of his sins prior to his death |
|
Like you, I am curious how Atwater was able to convey his views on Wes Clark to Karl Rove. An Ouji board perhaps?

The BBC is calling him as a novice and a late starter.
Meanwhile the American media is ignoring him: ABC didn't even run a story on his announcement today.
I really think that Clark's entry into the race at this point is counterproductive... at this point Dean or maybe Kerry was going to win and now they have a monkey wrench in their campaign machines. Think of how much campaign money is going to go to waste now.

They really, really don't want Clark to be the guy, because he can beat Bush. They're having to tear into him now. They've been holding back on the others because they haven't felt that threatened. They'd have brought out their big guns for the general election. This is forcing them to use their ammo for the primaries. If Clark survives it and wins they'll have to totally make stuff up. They won't even have kernal of truth to hang a story on. Surviving it is the first test of his candidacy, too. These days if you can't be teflon, you can't be effective.

>The BBC is calling him as a novice and a late starter.
At this point, while sounding a little dismissive, it seems to be fairly accurate. Let's wait and see what happens next....
>Meanwhile the American media is ignoring him: ABC didn't even run a >story on his announcement today.
Oh but Fox did! They couldn't quit announcing it. Which makes me very very suspicious.... Not of Clark but of what the WrongWing expects of his candidacy.....
So you may be right. I tended to lean toward Kerry with certain longing looks in Dean's direction, without making any firm decision. But now I am very interested in Clark....
Why was it such big news for Fox? Because they think he's a spoiler? Or because they think he has the best chance of kicking Bunnypants' butt around the block?
I'll be real interested to see where things go from here....

12. I watched Cable News on Clark and they are afraid |
|
There was so much coverage over him entering the race. All over CNN and MSGOP that he almost trumped Isabel. The Repulican "stragists" were saying this is his only big day. I was laughing my ass off! Clark is scaring the bejesus out of them.

His "dress up stunt" is just going to kill him when compared to a guy who can dig out of the closet his very own, real, once worn really by him neat uniform with 4 sparkling stars. SHit, Wes, wear it to the debates!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

18. So far their attempts have backfired |
|
Even for a wiley muckraker like Drudge, all they seem to be able to come with is that Clark voted for Reagan or that he hosted a Republican fundraiser. But wouldn't this just reassure the public that he was not partisan and independent?

21. Take the heat off Dean |
|
Let's get ready to rumble. As soon as they divert their attention from Dean to Clark, Dean will hammer the holy hell out of them. And let's not leave out Kerry. Kerry is about to get mean. We are about to witness the complete dismantling of the Bush Administration "By the Numbers" The Sharks (media) are starting to get the whiff of blood in the water also. I haven't been this optimistic for over two years.
