Kerry supporter roll call
O.K. This poll got 12 Kerry votes, and I'm just curious who voted for him. My best guesses are as follows:

NewYorkerfromMass (O.K. I didn't guess on that one)
blm
DrFunkenstein
Nicholas_J
DJcairo
flpoljunkie
molly
JI7
Dr Fate
phillybri
LibertyChick
????????

Did I miss any notably unabashed Kerry fans? If your name did NOT appear on this list, please report to the principal's office. :)

I still have Kerry as my first choice, there are far more than 12 also. I ran a similar thread a couple months ago, and there were over 60 replies from those that support Kerry. They just don't seem to post much, or hang out at DU often.

(.............................................. )

O.K. Wasn't sure about quinnox and UTUSN, and Octafish was a major omission!!!... (but I have to admit to not paying 100% attention 100% of the time here.) Anyway, it seems we are under-represented in these polls- maybe we only get a 50% "turnout" due to "down time" with some of us being away from the site- also I wonder if Will Pitt "pulls the lever" for JFK in these things?

Speaking of fun: Here's a nice blast from the past, circa January 2003:

16. That's why I have to laugh at those
who are upset today that their candidate are getting a small sample of what Kerry has been getting for a year. Gephardt and Edwards were treated badly, too. Lieberman undoubtedly gets the worst.

Kucinich gets the most unfair personal bashing, imo. That just sucks.

The substance and depth of the Kerry supporters here is truly awesome. Until now I really had no idea how formidable it was. I only know some of you through your many incredible posts here at DU, but the extent and quality of the support is much, much greater than I had imagined.
So by all means...CARRY ON!

Kerry combines the characteristics, skills and experiences the country needs — from overseas to Washington. Plus, as a former prosecutor and investigative Senate committee chair, he'll make certain the crooks in the BFEE are wearing orange jail jumpsuits, sooner rather than later.

28. I voted for Kerry
He was alway really #2 in my heart because I was an ex-Gore campaign worker. After seeing all of Gore and Clinton's campaign people run to the Clark campaign - I gave up.

I'm really impressed with Clark now and think he has a better chance to beat Bush than Kerry. I would be very very comfortable seeing either Kerry or Clark sitting in the White House, however. They are the the two most "capable." I hate to admit this but Dean makes me very "nervous."

Frankly, the most important thing for me is to do whatever it takes to get Bush out of office and I would vote for ANYONE against him.
He is not REALLY the President.

In the primary, I will vote for whoever I think will be most likely to boot that bastard out of office.

Don't give up the Kerry ship. We've got the best captain, in peace and in war. Remember, John Kerry put the mission and his crew ahead of his own safety in Vietnam and in Washington. The country will see he'll make the best Captain for the Ship of State. With John Kerry as President, we'll be saying:

"Whatever happened to that sneering guy
who was the brains behind the unelected fraud?"

I don't take these forum polls seriously but I weighed in anyway.

Clark would be my second choice. I need to see more. If he can prove hiself as a politician and has a solid domestic agenda, he could be a very good candidate.

Kerry and Clark are the only electable candidates (if Clark lives up to expectations).

National security/foreign policy were essentially non-factors in '92, '96 and '00. This election will be about electing a commander-in-chief more than any other in recent memory.

What you said. People want to know their country is secure and their families protected. The military wants to salute a CINC they can be proud of. The world needs to know America is led by a intelligent leader who is a man of peace, yet tested under combat (not a phony baloney wind-up photo-op pull-string cowboy). John Kerry is the real deal.

I looked at one the other night after Clark announced. I expected a lot of votes for Clark and Dean, this being DU. But Kucinich had more votes than Kerry, Gephardt, Lieberman, and Edwards COMBINED. I didn't even bother. The funny part was the poll wasn't even for who you liked, but who you thought was going to win!

37. Well. This is nice....Anyone remember what Clausewitz said about power?
"Mr. Bond, power is sovereignty. Clausewitz's first principle was to have a secure base. From there proceeds freedom of action. Together, that is sovereignty. I have secured these things and much besides. . . . These things can only be secured in privacy. You talk of kings and presidents. How much power do they possess? As much as their people will allow them . . . And how do I possess that power, that sovereignty? Through privacy. Through the fact that nobody knows. Through the fact that I have to account to no one."

— Ian Fleming, Dr. No

As we support JFK, everyone here, I'm certain, got the drift. Let's keep using our united keyboards to form the literary power station on behalf of our horse, of course.

Congratulations on the great news! Your son, and one day mine, thank Sen. Kerry and all the other veterans and American men and women whose sacrifices have made it possible for us to live in a free land where we vote for our leadership — no matter what Jebthro and Cruella of Florida say.

Would that you had many, many friends who want to see John Kerry visit New Hampshire. I think you're going to get your wish filled in the coming weeks. Please invite everyone you know to see him speak — he is not only "intense," but he's "brilliant." The guy not only can win in November 2004, he can lead the country to create a better place for ALL our kids.

No way would the battlebandwagon sail without ye! Nobody remembered to bring this thread up on P&C. Yeah, that’s what happened, or else we couldn’t remember how to spell it when bouncing between the two forums. Could you get a handle that’s a littler harder to write? What is it with unpronounceable shibboleths, anyway. Is it the common spelling? Code???

So, you’ve been following Sen. Kerry on C-SPAN, eh? Then you know that John Kerry pretty much singlehandedly brought down the corrupt Bank of Credit and Commerce International, and exposed its international ties to, among others, terrorism, drug running, money laundering and OLLIE NORTH.

For those who didn’t have cable:

BCCI, THE CIA AND FOREIGN INTELLIGENCE

Introduction

Excerpt:

On May 14, 1991, Senator Kerry wrote CIA Director Webster to again request the briefing paper on BCCI prepared by the CIA, as well as information on the CIA's own use of the bank. No reply was received in response to this letter from the CIA for over two months, during which BCCI was closed globally following its seizure in the United Kingdom by the Bank of England on July 5, 1991.

In the meantime, cleared staff requested a formal briefing from CIA staff concerning the CIA's knowledge of BCCI's activities. The CIA provided an oral briefing at its offices in June, 1991 at the "secret" level, consisting of very general information concerning BCCI's use by drug traffickers, material which was by then already largely a matter of public record. The briefer provided by the CIA to Congressional staff was unfamiliar with other basic information about BCCI, such as the names of BCCI's shareholders, including former Saudi intelligence chief Kamal Adham, the key figure in BCCI's secret takeover of First American, and the CIA's former principal contact in the Arab Middle East. Further, the briefer also appeared to be ignorant of the principal analytic documents concerning BCCI previously prepared by the CIA and disseminated to Executive Branch agencies, which contained this and other more important information about BCCI.(4)

On July 23, 1991, CIA director Webster replied to Senator Kerry's May 14 request by letter, admitting to the existence of two documents concerning BCCI, which were described as "extremely sensitive" and therefore restricted to being held by the Senate intelligence committee.(5) On reviewing these memoranda, Senator Kerry recognized that the earlier of the two documents, created in early 1986, contained startling information -- that the First American Bank in Washington was secretly owned by BCCI. The distribution list attached to the memorandum indicated that the CIA had communicated this information at the time to the Treasury Department. These was no indication that either Treasury or the CIA had ever advised the Federal Reserve, the primary regulator of First American, of this critical information.

Senator Kerry asked Judge Webster to declassify immediately the fact that the CIA had known as of 1986 that BCCI owned First American, and to begin the process of declassifying the entirety of both memoranda. On July 31, 1991, the CIA advised Senator Kerry that he could reveal the information concerning BCCI's secret ownership of First American, but no other information from the memos. The CIA had not yet acknowledged its own use of BCCI to the Subcommittee, or provided access to any other materials prepared by the CIA concerning BCCI.

70. Ok, so I'm somewhat abashed....
I confess to staying out of recent tour stops of BashaDempalooza except for throwing the occasional barb. All that fussy detailmongering bores me and life is too short to be spent on the temporarily but fixatedly insane. John's campaign has fallen behind on the large mass of work it needs to do due to such an amount of early engagement, unfortunately, but numbers and results should begin to show in the next few weeks.

So take heart. Most of the other candidates are peaking or burning out already if I read the little telltale signs correctly, contrary to the denials of their adherents around here. Myself, I'm sticking mostly with trying to keep up with how the Bush team is finding, exploiting, and profligately using up every substantial little bit of conservative bias, goodwill, benefit of the doubt, and advantage of incumbency they can get their grubby little fingers on.

73. Still hanging in there too. When is Kerry coming to Wisconsin ?
I have been pushing Kerry/Clark but I'm not sure what's up with Clark.
It's not like he hasn't had time to sort out his thoughts on the war.Maybe he will see that he needs to run with someone with more political experience and will agree to a VP spot with Kerry.

74. "He's STILL the one" ....I'm still a Kerry supporter....
I don't post much ... lurk/read mostly .... Continue to fight the good fight .... Still think he's the best equipped to lead (despite the Clark and Dean mania). Hope like hell he gets it.
