BBV: Boortz caller spelled it out, Boortz seemed receptive |
|
Excuse me if this has already been posted; I did a search with a couple of different words and didn't see it.
Earlier today I caught Neal Boortz in one of his usual whiney rants; he was going on about punch-cards vs touchscreen in the CA recall election. I missed the first part of it so wasn't sure what point he was trying to make. A guy (DUer???) called in and filled him in on Bev's website, BlackBoxVoting.com, and how Diebold Corp. is a Repub sponsor and had suspiciously "promised" Bush the election. The caller made a very clear case for the strong possibility of fraud/miscounting/vulnerability with touchscreen machines. Boortz was actually quite interested in these remarks, especially the idea that people had actually gone into the code over the internet; it sounded like he was going to follow up on links that the caller promised to e-mail. Much as I detest Boortz I was impressed at his openness to the whole subject, his refusal to just accept e-voting without some research, and his emphasis on the need for absolutely unbiased and fair voting. He is a slimeball but certain people do listen to him--any publicity of the issue is great. Anyway, caller, if you are reading this, let me congratulate you on some great remarks!
He also went on a whine about Wesley Clark but it wasn't that bad (unlike with Howard Dean, whom he absolutely lies about at every opportunity)--he covered the major RW talking points, esp. the "WWIII" thing (also, falling-out with Pentagon bosses and asked to retire)--but just ticked them off without a lot of hot air. I missed the "WWIII" thing but came back to the car just in time to hear him say something like, "so it's not that big a deal" or something like that.

7. read the first paragraph |
|
his interest dovetails with his feelings about all the nay sayers who regarded the punch cards as horrible (the dangling chaders). Turns out that they are the most accurate.
If he finds anything he can use to barbecue pols with on BBV he'll use it (either side of the aisle by the way).

Boortz has the most provocative style in radio but he sometimes sees things correctly as well. He came out and supported the 9th circuit decision about the California recall. He says if you supported the SC case in 2000, you have to follow and support the recall decision

He pretends to be "Libertarian" but spouts the Repuke party line.
He also (occasionally) reads DU.
Anyway, congrats to the caller. One mind at a time...
