A thread that says something nice about all the candidates |
|
Ok, I am sick and fucking tired of the bash threads.
I have not been here very long, and won't stick around much longer if it continues ( I get just watch Faux News if I want to see the Democrats get attacked).
So, I propose this:
Everyone who posts in this thread, copy the following and paste it in your thread, adding a couple things that are positive about a candidate.
I am sure there are alot more, but I am a Dean/Clark/Kucinich guy, so I know more about them then the others.
PLEASE, NO BASHING OR EXAGERRATIONS
------
Clark - Degree in Economics from Oxford, Rhodes Scholar, 4 Star General, Thinks Bush Admin messed-up in Iraq
Dean - Energetic, Against War with Iraq, Vocal in opposition to Bush, Against Bush Tax Cuts
Kerry - Vietnam Vet
Kucinich - Against NAFTA, Against War with Iraq, Co-Chair of Progressive Caucus, Pro-Union
Mosely Braun -
Sharpton - Witty, Attacks Bush
Gephardt - Pro-Union
Graham - Against War with Iraq
Lieberman - Against Bush Tax Cuts

1. Nobody here is gonna read anything nice! |

We want blood!
No we don't, but nasty gets more responses.
This is almost as bad as the American Idol boards.

I like all these candidates. Forgive me for being an optimist, but they all excite me. I can't wait until the battle starts getting really heated up. We have a whale of a next 14 months in store for us.

It was like Al Gore--he obviously won, but didn't get the title.
You would not believe all the "Clay is Gay" posts.
Pretty scary.

11. Clay has a great voice... |
|
...probably the only one who really had talent--all the rest were ok, but not in his league.
The show's easy to make fun of, and Clay was, too--very nerdy looking.

3. Can I just do a couple? |
|
I'm at work. I think I'm managing to miss most of the bashing threads. You can often detect them from the titles. So, please don't leave.
Dean: He's my guy, so I don't need to say anything about him. Sharpton: Best sound bites. I wish he'd make it to more rallies and debates because I haven't heard much about him. Clark: Adds great military credentials. Kucinich: The most liberal. Lieberman: Good on civil rights.
That leaves me 5 short, but I have nothing against any of them.

Dean - articulate, compassionate, VOCAL, awesome political skills. Motivates the left like no candidate in 30 years. Could be the guy to finally unite this fractured party.
Edwards - simply the best speaker on the stump, IMHO. Common guy from common beginnings. Not about to allow tort reform. The dark horse in all of this. Nice accent! Cute to boot.
Kerry - icon of the Democratic Party. Well-connected Washington insider (and I mean that in a good way). Knows how the Hill works. Knows how to get things done.
Mosely-Braun - the most passionate of the 10. Brilliant. Diplomatic credentials are stellar.
Graham - we could use him in Florida. And he's all over the 9/11 thing. Voted against the damned war!
Gephardt - another Democratic Party icon. See Kerry. Union guy. Saved the Family Farm. Popular in the midwest (my neck of the woods) and industrial Great Lakes states, and you can't win the presidency without Ohio and Michigan.
Sharpton - forcing the Democratic Party to realize it's time to pay the piper when it comes to issues of racial divide. We'd better pay attention.
Clark - best resume in the race. Telegenic. Brilliant. Lighting a fire under everyone's asses. Looks good in a general election. Predicted the aftermath in Iraq better than a psychic. "Gets" the military thing during a time of war.
Lieberman - Gore's running mate. Basically, our vice-president.
Kucinich - the everyman, the real liberal in the race. Buckeye to boot!

I couldn't agree more with your assesments. Good to see you gave our only lady in the race her much needed props, too. Nobody gives Carol M-B enough credit around here. Kucinich has my vote, but these candidates all have some great qualities. IMHO, this is the best damn group to come along in a long, long time.

Since no one has mentioned him, or even notices him generally, I'll put something positive about him:
He wants to send every kid to public colleges for free their freshman year. He's also an excellent speaker.
As to the others, none of them are Bush. Gephardt has an excellent labor record. Kucinich has a lot of fire. Kerry is very intelligent. Moseley Braun is a great speaker. Al Sharpton is great at coming up with appropriate zingers on any topic, and has a great history of activism. Graham is probably the most capable person running. Lieberman seems to really believe what he's saying. Clark knows how to handle interviews expertly. Dean hired an effective campaign team.

19. I think Edwards is going to be the next President |
|
My belief is his laid back personality, looks, humble beginnings and Southern roots will hold up well over time. Plus, his confidence- "when I'm President..."- and speaking skills will just put the guy over top. Somehow I just get the idea he's going to hit the big-time soon.

So that should make it damn akward for him to do or say anything that might annoy me, mind you what he said in the past might be annoying.
He probably isn't going to be DLC, I didn't see his name on their list.
