Hey! DU'ers who are annoyed with Isabel Coverage! It's the Homeland! |
|
Edited on Thu Sep-18-03 05:25 PM by KoKo01
If I had to watch Bush send our military into Iraq hour after hour, day after day......I can put up with A Days's Coverage of "Isabel" wreaking havoc on our "Mid-Atlantic Homeland."
Isabel IS PATRIOTIC............Why shouldn't I have the same coverage here in NC by the "Whore Press" as Iraq or Afghanistan did?
For DU'ers who miss their usual Faux,MSNBC,CNN, CNBC coverage I say......what the hell is wrong!
This is my country and we had a HUGE STORM.....and I'm thankful it wasn't worse than what was originally predicted......But, whn some DU'ers worry that "Crossfire" might be cancelled because some "Portion" of the US has tremendous Storm......then, I start to wonder if Democratic Underground is as "Inclusive" as we here think.
(Caution....this is a rant against posts annoyed that "whore media" would spend time covering this horrible Hurricane rather than covering Bush/Iraq.)
It pissed me off.......that those in other parts of the country wouldn't understand that we are in distress here......with millions of damage, flooding, trees down, economic devastation from businesses closing, jobs, etc. because Isabel has taken another toll on parts of the US who have seen so much devastation the past years (due to Global Warming, IMHO) that many of us DU'ers in these areas feel "Under Siege" and have had to put money out of our wallets for clean up....because our "insurance agents" have raised our premiums so much we have to have "1,000.00 deductions just to afford our monthly premiums.
We here in NC have been hit so hard with "Hurricanes, Ice Storms, Snow Storms" since 1995 that we are "beaten down" wondering what is NEXT!!!

...One of the most hurtful things about the destruction of my home (and others in my town) during Tropical Storm Bill was that we received no media coverage outside the local area. It was made clear to us that the national media, as well as the GOP owned government, doesn't care. We were refused federal disaster aid as well as media coverage.
Be glad you are receiving coverage. It will make it much easier to get aid to the areas that need it.
On edit: I tried to contact local media several times to report what happened to my home, as it was very photogenic to watch this huge ancient oak tree being removed by a 100-plus foot crane...no response, no interest. I have to confess I'm a little bitter about it!
